šŸ“ŗ GOOD SHOWS (no capeshit pls)

Another vote for Planet Earth 2 - just amazing - the photography the sacrifices made by the teams just to get ā€˜that shot’ is phenominal. Glad we are watching it on the BBC so we get 15 minutes of ā€˜extra footage’ presume this is cut for adverts overseas. A masterpiece of a programme that makes me feel humbled and insignificant compared to the beauty of nature. If its Attenboroughs swansong then it is a bloody good programme to end on.

No Such thing as the news - a TV spin off from the podcast - made on a budget of 10k ( for all the series ) spoke to Dan Schreiber when I went to watch it being filmed a few weeks ago - good nerdy TV and maked me wish I was younger as I reckon I could have had a crack at that.

and

The Grand Tour - won’t be a popular thing to say here but I enjoyed it and so did my family, the cars and presentation were sublime as usual.

It was all going so well! I’ll give you the upvote and pretend i didn’t read the last bit.

With a non stop procession of tourists in town I actually had to stop watching after episode 7 - leaving the final two episodes maturing nicely on the Sky + type thingy we have.

I must say that as you mention, Series One seemed to basically be what other shows would have as a single opening episode.

The Finale brings in such a set of concepts for Season Two, cleans things up and I am sure caused as much outrage across parts of the USA as Trumpington did.

Great Cast, Weird as Fuck Ideas, stunning cinematography and choice of music and things that you all our upbringing scream that you REALLY must not laugh at but find you do.

ā€œDon’t worry Eugene, we’ll get you outta hereā€ was up there with the best IMHO.

Although Preacher’s first season hasn’t always been consistent, it’s always been audacious. Few shows in recent memory have taken as many wild, big swings in their first season. The crazy turns, the stylistic flourishes, the darkly funny set pieces – they’ve all covered up the occasional dead moment or stalled character development. But in this season finale, Preacher delivered a huge, bonkers moment that also felt especially earned…

No matter how you feel about what happened nospoilers, or how _Preacher_moves forward in the aftermath, you cannot deny the show’s chutzpah. This first season was full of good performances – Dominic Cooper was solid at the center, but Ruth Negga and Joseph Gilgun get to have so much more fun – and one technically novel sequence after another. But it’s the way that Preacher kept trying to go bigger each week, or in even in the next scene, that made it infectiously watchable, and one of the year’s best new shows.

Not going to post the actual link as it is full of spoilers.

Just catch up people. the show only just started Season Two will be 13 Episodes not the 9 of S1

Having read some of the reviews close but not quite a cigar.

We already saw the villain and the whole shebang - beauty was that only complete comic nerds would have even thought they had spotted it.

I have been banging on about The Missing for a while and the penultimate episode was another stonker. There have been more curve balls than chucked at a curve ball rally and the ending threw us another one. Set up nicely for the finale now. Cant recommend this highly enough.

I’m not very good at watching tv and struggle to maintain interest in series. I took two on recently. The Missing, which has been bloody brilliant and Westworld, which I was really enjoying but have let slip and am now miles behind. I think I’ve watched three episodes. I need to do some catching up with that, but I’m busy masturbating. I shall be sad when The Missing has finished because I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s made me perch on the edge of my seat. That said, if it was longer than the 8 episodes it runs for then I’d probably lost interest or fall behind anyway. This is a good length for a series for me. More 8 episode stuff please! Maybe I should write to Barry Took. Why oh why oh why oh why do TV companies insist on making really fucking long series that a simple man like me struggles to follow? Come on aunty, sort it out!

Really excellent. Kept up a high standard all the way through.

Westworld started off well but then became a bit boring and repetative. It has picked up again though and I am looking forward to the season finale tomorrow.

The Affair is back for series 3 and has jumped 3 years into the future. Have only caught one episode so far but Noah seems to have become more of an asshole since the end of series 2!

I have just finished binge watching 6 episodes of Westworld as the season finale is tomorrow? It definitely got better as it went on and I can’ tactually wait for the finale (which will probably be a bit of a letdown after the recent revelations).

I have also finished watching the last 6 episodes of the last season of Elementary, the new season starts next week, and I pretty much enjoyed that too. Whilst I think it is gettng towards the end of its lifespan the twist at the end of the last season has freshened it up a little.

I enjoyed The Missing too. I never saw the first series, is it as good? The only thing that bothered me was sending that one girl back pretending to be another missing girl seemed pretty stupid and unneccesary, but they managed to cover up the dubious logic involved pretty well I thought.

Yes BT series finale tomorrow. Bear, the first series of The Missing was was good but I think this was better.

Westworld Finale… didn’t see that comming! :lou_surprised:

Only the series finale Chutters, it will be back!

Wont be same without xxxxx though,… :lou_sad:

Mozart In The Jungle series 3 premieres on Amazon on Friday. It’s a show that I really rate and if you like classical music, then it’s definitely worth checking out

Watched every episode of the Detectorists from my sickbed yesterday. Feelgood shit. I enjoyed it.

I enjoyed it to.

So Westworld has reached the end. Or is it the beginning?

Deep, dark, thoughtful, worrying, yet compellingly entertaining once it had grazed your psyche. In some ways I felt dirty watching it, 35 years of exploitation, coming on small hints about the demise of other species on this planet.

Was there a deeper darker moral?

Michael Crichton was an inspired yet thought provoking story teller, so much of the depth & nuance of his tales got lost in the mega buck big screen productions, yet here I felt we went darker, sinful perhaps.

Season 2 has so many opportunities now, so many directions for well et al. Will they be able to hold the show without the majesty of acting of some players, or will others retain that same quality of performance?

Will Radiohead still pop up on the piano?

Me? No idea. Gonna have to get some download skills going as new digs has limitations on the shows & channels we can watch.

Well crafted, thought provoking TV. I hope quantity won’t spoil the quality and get all ā€œLostā€
