I have done that fourth episode of the Expanse. Quality. I had enjoyed everything Iâd seen so far, but the climax of episode four is arguably the wow moment of the season so far. It sounds almost redundant to say so, but this show really doesnât stand still. Where some shows, Galactica included, were quite happy to get comfy in their environments, the main plot doesnât really let its characters settle, and certainly doesnât give them an easy time.
So much to love about this; the set design, legit space problems and most of all, the mystery. The settlement bound stuff is naturally slower, but even that is starting to perk up once events in the Belt start rippling back home. Thereâs still a lot of the universe that is off-screen; donât think weâve been to Mars yet, nor has the show touched down on the lunar surface, though both are mentioned off-screen.
If they can do the world building stuff as well as they have so far, smart things lie ahead.
I get sh1t for NOT commenting or posting Capeshit, in fact merely pointing out that capeshit steals hotties from us and then YOU sneak in a capeshit post. Pah.
Meanwhile. Homeland Series 5. The Rolling Eyes of Carrie in Sausagefestland.
Did anyone else actually bother to watch? Has it even been shown over there yet?
As a critique I actually felt that it was better than S4, the canvas was smaller and it actually managed to have a tighter menace about it. In fact it was almost a proper Spy Series. (Good grief, what were they thinking?)
The issue for me was that the Berlin Station Chief CIA B1tch was simply too mousy and not convincing in her role, Carrie was just too rolling eyed and there were simply too many âlucky co-incidencesâ or âno, NOBODY in the history of Spy Movies has EVER been THAT dumbâ moments in the script.
For me that meant it earned a âworth watching to fill the timeâ accolade, especially when compared to the more modern likes of True Detective.
So it IS an improvement, and it had a âcliff hangerâ ending and it did address âcurrentâ issues around Syria, Russia and the unchecked mass-migration threat that IS may cause, so well done to the writers for finding a way to bring all of that together.
The only REALLY negatitive point of the series? Carrie seems to have a thing about getting banged while wearing a bra. Each to their own I suppose, and it did sneak some better endowed random Bewbs in towards the end to make up for it.
Believe it or not, I didnât actually watch many X-Files episodes back in the day. Watched most of the first season, then fell away for various reasons. Not having access to it, basically. Would never happen in this day and age
Episode 1 just sets up perfectly a reason to bring them back.
Then Ep 2 is just like they never went away, a standard not quite right suicide, DoD.
Basically Pap, in the first 30 minutes of Episode 1 they cover every Conspiracy Theory out there and then the new episodes while moving the story forward (and addressing even more conspiracies) have a much more modern day edge to them. Quite gruesome in parts.
Yeah, theyâre a bit puffier and a bit less athletic, but theyâve come back on top form. And the Marlboro Man snippet was gross but almost ROFL.
Loving it.
But wondering if it should be renamed the Conspiracy Files
Just finished watching Narcos. Completely and utterly hooked and already waiting for series 2. Thrilling, amusing (dark humour), eye opening and educational about the fucked up history of Colombia, all in equal measure. Enjoyed the fact that there were no big name stars in it, the authenticity of Colombians speaking spanish and the sensible level of ânarrationâ by the lead DEA character. Go watch people, if you have yet to get involved.
Iâve done eight episodes of the Expanse now. There are two more left this season, and Iâm still loving my low-fi sci-fi (in the sense that theyâre only 200 years in the future). The mystery is not yet over, although many individual strands have been solved in isolation. Itâs probably also worth pointing out that after the first four episodes, the main crew does indeed settle down some. I think theyâve been in the same ship for four episodes now!
Really donât want to spoil anything. Go watch it if you like your sci-fi, because itâs probably the best spacey show filling the void atm.
So, Vinyl. The more trailers I see, the more boring it appears.
Respectfully, no tosser answered my previous request to give me some context about it. Donât want to bleat, but on behalf of the hundreds and possibly thousands of members who arenât personal friends, why not give me some feedback?
