So, Vinyl. The more trailers I see, the more boring it appears.

Respectfully, no tosser answered my previous request to give me some context about it. Don’t want to bleat, but on behalf of the hundreds and possibly thousands of members who aren’t personal friends, why not give me some feedback?

Yours, in the spirit of inclusiveness and not mutual love ins,and in the hope that post count <> relevance. I’m wanting love from this forum and I’m not getting it. Or love from this forum.

Toby

Maybe we have no feedback as the Series hasn’t started yet? :lou_sunglasses:

This is all we have to base our thoughts on.

It looks to have possibilities is my interpretation.

Yeah, sorry mate. I feel sure you could have got a reference to rectitude in there.

Just been sick, lost my job, mother dying, getting evicted, getting shit off ex, kids going psycho, in massive debt, selling all my stuff, uncle died, another two on the way, trying to fix up flights back to UK and wont see my kids for months Being harassed by govt agencies, need root canal, knee is fucked, have drink problem. mates giving me a hard time, falling asleep spontaneously at 4pm.

Not ranting at you, but you have hit the rusty nail on the head and there’s no doubt I’m losing it a bit! I feel this is a good place to get that sort of shit off my chest. Hence other threads and generally disappearing up my own arse!

This has all manifested in my questions about Vinyl. Speaking of which, I sold all my records and cassettes yesterday for fuck all money. Gave away all my much loved books also. Feel like I’ve had my soul ripped out and shat my youth down the crapper.

Apologies. But you asked, and I feel better for answering!

So, Vinyl?

Sounds like you’re going through the wringer, anal1 (no pun intended).

Don’t fret too much about possessions; I don’t think I have a single CD from my youth in my collection anymore. Don’t fret too much about debt either. Like me old dear has said plenty of times, ā€œthey can’t fucking take what I ain’t fucking got.ā€.

Telling you to suck eggs here, surely - but solve what you can solve, accept what you can’t and try your best not to get ground down by it. I’d like to say I know it’s hard, but mate, I’ve got no fucking clue. No-one does, 'cept for you.

Honoured that you felt that this was an appropriate place to share.

Rant away, sounds like you’ve earned it - fill yer boots.

So, I watched the first 2 episodes of the new X-files last night, the first would be slap bang in the middle of Pap’s domain and I reckon he should watch it as it would prove he has correct all along.

The second was pure indulgence IMHO

Oh, and the acting, was it always that stilted in the first 9 series?

Given the rather partial nature of this thread, I am not sure whether this constitutes a worthy submission, because it’s animation of a sorts, aimed at kids, and I’m forty years old, but I’m eventually rounding off the first season of Star Wars Rebels. Gotta say, it is merely an okay show when it kicks off. It’s set after Revenge of the Sith and before A New Hope.

The titular rebels are a small team led by a jedi in hiding, or at least hiding the fact that he’s a jedi. Most of them begin as character tropes of one sort or another, be it Star Wars, or any of the tropes Star Wars nicked for itself, but the series format suits, and by the mid to end of the first season, you really start to pull for them.

They prefer not to kill people, so it’s a little A-Team-y in that sense, but they’ve no probs blowing up Tie Fighters which are piloted by humans, etc. Lando turns up in the first season, and is voiced by Billy Dee Williams. I’ve seen that particular episode and they nail it; a great mix of peril and comedy, only really doable in the animated format. Darth Vader apparently turns up in the second season, voiced by James Earl Jones. Should add some gravitas to a rapidly improving series.

Fuck that. That sounds like it would make Doctor Who seem a snuff/porn fest. I’d rather clear the guttering out.

Strangely yes. In fact DD has been like that in everything he has made (even Californication)

Agree with the EP 2 comment - it’s like ā€œYeah we have this BRILLIANT concept for a Rebootā€ (that doesn’t require a Star Trek Alternative Reality script) and they knock that out of the park and then say ā€œYay now let’s make a proper X Files Episode how we think it should have been doneā€.

Their only defence IMHO are the tenuous links to the guy in the suit from the DoD so I have allowed them that one off as a setting the scene.

But like you, I am somewhat surprised that Pap hasn’t taken the hint. I mean FFS the entire Ep 1 script was lifted off his Conspiracy Theory Thread on the Other Place. Just waiting for the two of them to have a Capricorn 13 moment and find the Moon Landing Studio.

BTW Defiance S 3 yet again really delivers. A super simple Universe and while never stand out it is bloody good time filling TV. Love the Purple Sex Mad Vampires in this series.

My mate has just started watching it with his nipper. That’s probably the best setup for this caper, imo.

OK, fair enough. Just embarked on The 4400 with kid Goat.

Hey Toby - sorry you’re going through a rough time at the moment, this sounds seriously shit.

But hang out more on here if you can - people probably just missed your posts as you’re not a frequent poster. We like new people! It would be nice to get to know you better!

It’s actually a very good show. It was running alongside the original Heroes. While it never had the budget of Heroes, I reckon it managed to paint a more interesting world.

Justified.

Anyone watched it? Any good? There’s 78 episodes to get stuck into apparently.

That’s fucking serious head fuck time that… are you in shape? Will need peak physical and psychological fitness … better get over to Fat club… will be looking to introduce head fitness sessions soon…

Seen a couple of episodes and have heard good things. It’s alright, but the impression I got was that it was going to settle into a formula. I really can’t do much of that shit anymore. I may be wrong though, so someone please correct me if I am.

I watched the first series of Jessica Jones * (is there a second yet?).

Pretty enjoyable on the whole. I thought David Tennant was good. Something about skinny Jessica being that strong doesn’t look right in the scenes where she uses her powers.

OK, but didn’t change my life.

Also watching the US remake of The Killing and am really enjoying it. I never saw the Danish original but I can see why all the fuss was made about it. It’s a very clever story, told very cleverly. The two actors that play the main cops are superb. Just started season 2.

* Sorry if this is qualifies as Capeshit

It qualifies as capeshit. It’s got a big Marvel sticker on it; you know this, bletch :lou_sunglasses:

Not really any costumes though, and I thought it was another great adult take on the universe. Deals with the powers aspect of things really well too;using the limited playset they made for themselves very deftly.

Catching up with The Returned, the French version. Have had to have a recap after two years, so watched the last two episodes of season 1 and about 4 episodes of the second series. It’s maintained my interest, which is a good sign as usually by now I’ve lost interest.

The Good Old Days

I’m bit obsess with this show! I don’t know much about it, I caught it randomly the other day when I was having my lunch; it was on BBC28, or something like that.

I think it was made in the 80s, judging by Production Values. The setup is pretty sweet. It’s sort of like x-factor, i.e. set in a theatre, but I think it’s supposed to be i.e. year 1890 or something like that, because everyone, even all the audience bros, are dressed in Old Fashion Clothes.

What you have is an Old Man In Spatz introducing Acts. He’s pretty funny. What he does, is he does his introductions using long words, like i.e. he would say like i.e., ā€œThe atrabilious antedeluvian blah blahā€ and other made up words like that, and when he does a Long Word, the audience is like all ā€œOoooo!ā€ It was Audience participations. I like Audience Participations.

I was a bit confused about the actual acts tho. At first I thought it was Amateurs, like i.e. X-Factor. They had people singing, and tumblers and stuff like that. It was all good fun, Old Time Music Hall Fair. Then this old bird come on and sung a song. It was a bit dry, but everyone was v.polite. Then right, and this is where I was slightly out of sympathy with the show, the bird started up singing another song! At this point, bearing in mind the audience participations I mentioned earlier, I was expecting the audience to start boo-ing, or pelting her with Rotten Fruit, or something like that, but it wasn’t that kind of show. They just sat grimly through it while the Old Bird warbled out a second song, and even, if you’ll believe me, when she sung a third! It was a blessed relief when someone eventually gave her the hook, but it made me think that this show actually has the same flaw as X-Factor. I.e., it would be a lot better, if the audience was armed.

Then Ronnie Corbett come on. I was like, oh, it’s Ronnie Corbett. Maybe it’s not Amateurs after all, maybe even that old bird was Famous in the 80s or whenever. Corbett was actually a bit of highlight. I thought he made his career by being less funny than Ronnie Barker, but he was good in himself. He come on, told some jokes, mostly bout how short he is, and then he sung a song. It was a good song! The chorus was i.e. ā€œI can fancy someone fancying you, but fancy you fancying me!ā€ which I liked cos that kind of funny wordplays is what I require from a song.

Then everyone, i.e. the audience & everything, had a good sing-along, and it ended on a high note. My mum pop her head around the door. ā€œWhat the fuck are you watching?ā€ I suppose I had been making a bit of a racket. She hadn’t heard of it either tho. She’s American.

I have finished watching the first series of The Expanse, which I’d wager is worth ten episodes of your time. I introduced this show as a sci-fi mystery. The main questions are answered. We know ā€œwhoā€, broadly ā€œwhyā€ and ā€œhowā€. What we don’t know is what happens next (apart from GB - a reader of the books).

I was very impressed with this. I think the last space show I had a proper amount of enthusiasm for was Battlestar Galactica.
