Pap, I use torrent downloads for pretty much everything now. I really donât watch telly too much now.
The season long polemic about political correctness gone mad continues at South Park, which for the first time ever, I am watching week to week.
This week, the practices of shaming and safe spaces go under the microscope. Another really strong episode; still getting the sense that this is series is one big statement rather than the reactive stuff theyâve done in the past.
Iâve been watching Chewing Gum on E4. Additionally filmed outside the local youth offending office allegedly.
Interesting entry on CV - minge double for Liv Tyler.
Iâve got some vindication on Gotham over at Forbes (link contains spoilers).
The first season is okay, but suffered from some bad choices in choosing which parts to highlight. The second season is belting it along. Last nightâs episode might have been the strongest yet, even though it was once again, batshit crazy.
If i had a criticism of this year, itâs perhaps that we donât get too many quiet moments of contemplation for characters to reflect on the crazy shit that is happening to them, sometimes to a fault. I almost thought that ace detective Jim Gordon wasnât going to tumble onto the plot of this yearâs villain, but he got there in the end.
Thatâs a quibble though. As long as Gotham keeps dishing out the crazy, Iâll be watching.
I see that there is going to be another series of Doctor Foster. Not sure if that is a good idea as the premise seems played out. Hopefully they have a strong story line and are not just trying to cash in on the success of series 1.
Fargo is just getting better and better. Iâm a huge fan of the original movie and had my doubts how it could translate to TV. Moreso how they could improve upon season 1. But theyâve captured the original darkly humourous tone and the 70âs setting is beautifully realised. Best thing iâve watched in ages.
Thought the same. I did think it was well done but didnât really like the last episode and use of child in her revenge plot.
Ash vs Evil Dead is fucking awesome, going by the pilot. Directed by Sam Raimi himself, it has lost nothing, and arguably gained much in its transition to television. Iâm a huge fan of the original movies, and while I love our ending of Army of Darkness, when Ash ends up in a destroyed England far into the future, it is great to see the slimy old bastard back.
Bruce Campbell just owns the the role of Ash now. The show hits all the right notes. Funny, genuinely scary, and not a cop out in any way. Thereâs blue language, gratuitious sexual scenes, graphic violence and the superb direction of Sam Raimi.
The show has a wider scope than any of the movies did - with events happening all over the shop, and other characters having encounters with the newly risen Deadites. If it maintains this quality, Iâm all in. If you liked the films, itâs a no-brainer.
Fargo series 2 Channel 4 - top TV
That is a fun show! Tks for recommendation, I watched this show and found it to be a Fun Show!
My latest fav is Catastrophe. Usual premise, couple meet, shag, she gets pregnant and they decide to make a go of it. It is mucky and irreverant and strips any element of romance out of holding down a relationship whilst bringing up children, right up my street.
I caught a new show, and it is very early days, but I think it could be A Good Show, obviously adopting Bearâs excited Camel Case whitespace-delimited style.
It is called âInto The Badlandsâ, and is probably best understood as Far Eastern feudalism meetng plantation America, an unspecified amount of time into the future, with a lot of martial arts. Set after a global, paradigm changing war that no-one living can remember.
Itâs Sarnia Saintâs nightmare, basically. Guns in the US are outlawed; everyone is going about with knives and swords, slicing each other up in bloody martial arts contests, the best of these known as âclippersâ. They serve barons, whoâve got the same role as nobles in the feudalism system.
The martial arts stuff is very good, and the central story, though well trodden, looks like itâs got the characters and actors to pull it off.
Rob Delaney walked by me the other day. Also enjoy the show too.
Gf & I love this. Has me howling with laughter.
Also really enjoying the new series of Fargo.
Just watching catch up now on epsode 5⊠a new classic line;
âIf you get the chance, ask him if its true that Joan Crawford had crabsââ
pause
âyeaâŠIâm not going to do thatââ
Last 2 episodes of Fargo have been fucking sublime - thereâs not a weak character or plot element on the show.
Yeah I had doubts about series 2 initially. It often goes bad with that many names in one thing, but yeah, itâs cracking.
I too had my doubts about a TV version of Fargo, being a big fan of the movie and The Coens. They have exec producer credits but have no creative input apparently. It could have been a awful pastiche of the original film but the guy behind it, Noah Hawley has nailed it.
Itâs the best thing on TV by a long way.
