We are in Bath for lunch. In error but oh well. Really easy to get away from site.
It’s a fucking good job you don’t party like me. Was so fucked up on Saturday night that it took me a long, unspecified time to get to my campsite.
I then spent about an hour on my own campsite unable to find my tent. I never found it on my own.
Thank fuck for the Southampton nippers I’d met earlier in the week. One of them literally led me to my tent.
It’s your age.
I think the kindest words on my journey came when I apologised to a steward for my general uselessness.
“It’s okay mate. You are just absolutely wasted”, before adding “and there’s nothing wrong with that”
I love Glastonbury
The steward was later heard telling a mate that he’d helped a fucked-up Frodo find the Shire.
Just got home. Detour to Bath was not on cards but had a large lunch so we don’t have to contemplate making anything more difficult than toast tonight. Had a little sleep in the car but sure I will sleep soundly tonight.
That was my best Glastonbury so far. I saw all 3 headliners (haven’t done that in a while). I got to see 2 from the front area. Me being brave after a hectic moment in front of Prodigy at Reading put me off.
The weather was v kind to us (though I was possibly a bit too dehydrated on Saturday lunchtime). I think that there was more diversity of music and people. I didn’t do some of the things I still want to do like go to South East corner or the Rabbit hole thing. So here is hoping to getting tickets in the future.
Everybody does Glastonbury different.
And that’s ok.
Though I do wish that not so many young women had lip fillers. Never seen so many in one place. They were obviously all stunning beforehand.
So ticked every box. Went to SE Corner saw maybe 5 or 6 bands there in different places/genres
We went to the Rabbithole up the top. Didn’t get to Acoustic West Holts or Park stage for music.
Our team 3 canning 6 inside even clocked some celebs.
Andy Robinson former coach of Englands’ egg chasers (weak but)
Bear Grylls I couldn’t get in front of him in the reentry queue but he was posing for selfies.
And staying in
A Campervan!
The kids clocked Beckham who even smiled at the camera (or maybe snarled)
For us Glasto wasnt epic this year. It was solid. By that I mean no one thing stood out, everything did. Hell we even saw Stormzy divide the Nation
So how was @Barry-Sanchez staying edgy given my very limited accounts of debauchery?
Smoking crack behind his sofa?
He was wearing a long blonde wig and his Quo T shirt, drinking gin and tonics.
You were queuing to watch Kylie along with the other record breakers, that says all you need to know about Glastonbury, doesn’t make it bad but it isn’t edgy, a corporate affair of middle classes.
Along with the rest of them.
Wish I could have been this eloquent
(Read the thread)
Queueing for Kylie? Lol.
How wrong you see things from a shed Bazza.
They were queueing for Sir David Attenborough. They started pouring in 30 minutes before he was due on stage and my God how they cheered.
Not edgy though is it? You know saving the world and all that. We were up at the Park and knew we wouldn’t get back in time.
Edgy? Not sure.
Most emotional thing I’ve ever seen? Possibly
Looking at the campsite photos coming in there has been a hell of a change in mindsets.
Edgy?
That thread I posted above shows how maybe BBC need to refocus into SE Corner to be relevant.
NYC Downlow is insanely edgy
Chris Martin put himself about. Getting ribbed mercilessly in some of the comments i’ve read!
Cure were late on stage - double checking the padlocks on his door was my favourite
You believe that? I thought his visit was a surprise? People wanted to see Kylie, no shame in that at all.
He fucking lives there, he even plays the fallow years.
I also have a dilemma. In our gang Andy didn’t enjoy the music so much this year. Hes not full on Baz but as he said where were the ZZ Tops, ELO? "Not enough singing) I get that from not knowing Mo or Anne Marie until I heard them.
Nick is not as active and felt the heat more and was happy only doingv15kms a day so we saw Attenborough (epic) not Foals or Lizzo or even Dave.
Sorry flight delayedc90 minutes & 31C with thuderstorm humidity when I landed, feeling bad withdrawal pains already
Not sure I have others who would take their place but felt this year that I found the I Glasto in all those crazy SE Corner places & micro venues
Take me back PLEASE
