Glastonbury 2016

Coldplay plodding through their back catalogue of lift music in a muddy field.

Nice.

Washed down with Mulled Cider & inhaling the fumes from 50,000 joints. It’ll do as a plan until they announce New Order or whoever is Headlining the Other Stage or the “Legend” at West Holts.Who knows, maybe FatBoy will be blasting Arcadia.

There’ll be 26 other acts/bands on at that time to choose from. We’ll find something to make everyone jealous don’t worry

Heck, even Radiohead are rumoured to be playing a surprise gig somewhere

Ah yes it would have been up against Kasabian.

Beyonce is in the UK the week after. But we had a Coldplay / Beyonce year in 2011.

I like coldplay and love Glastonbury but the choices of headliners for the last few years has been fucking shite middle of the road pop/rap/rock, absolute shit. Music noawdays isn’t as good as it was but Jesus wept.

Nowt like the glory days of the 80s, eh Bazza?

Ah the memories flood back Pap, those were the days.

Hmm. Metallica MoR pop eh? :lou_eyes_to_sky:

The BIG breakthroughs have always tended to happen on The Other Stage. I joke about Gaga, but until she “burst” onto that stage in the afternoon about 8 years ago, she was just some numpty making a noise in the US.

The Pyramid is what gets the masses (like my Mum ffs) to watch on TV and the Fees go a long way to paying for the event. The REAL stuff happens elsewhere which is what many of the “moaners” don’t understand & is why we all put the miles in over the weekend & try to step over KRG’s “dead body”.

For every Kayne gig there is a Dolly Parton or Nile Rodgers moment. For every Tony Christie there is a Seasick Steve, for every Status Quo there is an Arctic Monkeys or Queens of the Stone Age.

For every Beyonce there is a Leonard Cohen moment…

More info starting to drip through.

Emily Eavis has confirmed that PJ harvey ( <3 <3 <3 ) will be appearing on The Other stage. Also, that all the main headline acts will be British, ruling out Foo Fighters.

Probably looking like Adele & Muse to join Coldplay.

Most of AC/DC born in Britain.

There is still hope.

Haha. Still think I might try grab tickets for their Olympic Park show, it is walking distance from my flat after all. They are a band that has popped up as a rumour a few times the last couple of years, so I guess it isn’t totally beyond the realms of possibility. Especially after Metallica’s pretty triumphant show a couple of years ago.

One of my mates is still clinging on to hope that it will be Radiohead. Despite us going to Primavera, where they are actually confirmed to be playing.

I feel Adele is probably nailed on. I’d be surprised if they went for 3 acts consisting solely of White, British dudes. There’s been a push to diversify the line up somewhat (particualrly on the bigger stages), and the Eavis’ have been vocal in saying they are particularly keen to get more women on the bill. I am (unsurprisingly) all for that, which does point to Adele, imo. To be fair, as I said before, she makes sense as a booking. She’s a phenomenally popular artist, she’d be there on merit. Just not my taste, so I probably wouldn’t watch her.

From the NME:-

Emily Eavis: “We’ve got three brilliant British bands headlining the festival, although I haven’t actually told anyone that yet.”

Is Adele a band?

She’ll probably have a backing band?

I dunno. I’ve thought it was going to be her for a while, so I’m sticking with it.

Yeah, but she’s not known as band, so you’d think that she’d be excluded from consideration.

Fleetwood Mac stil sorta in the running, on account of being British American. Muse have got to be a big shout, as are Radiohead, Stone Roses and perhaps Blur.

I also thought it was Adele and Muse. Though for a bit could have had Rihanna and Beyonce as they are about. I just think they should tell us a bit sooner!

Other half would be happy with a Coldplay, Muse, Fleetwood Mac combo.

Muse Friday night headliners

Adele has said loads of times that she would not do it, “Not my scene innit hahahahahahh” she was noted screeching in an Alan Carr/carry on film style voice.

That’s probably how she got so good.

“I have clearly failed in my role as a tutor in elocution, but we did discover something during the voice exercises…”

Possible Legend alert!

Art Garfunkel.

Member of his backing band commented that he is looking forward to playing at Glasto this summer (plus a gig at Hampton Court.

Saw him on Royal Variety Show, his voice was wobbly but he has to be on a bucket lilst of people to see before it’s too late

You just reminded me about our rabbit. :slight_frown:

Radiohead are doing 3 small shows at the Roundhouse in May. Rehearsals for Glasto?
