If Reform do well enough, there’s a faint chance LibDems could be opposition…And before you shout at me, very faint.
You sound as if you’ve already given up on forming a government.
We suggested that in an election 30 years or so ago. We were rightly ridiculed. The FPTP system means you need at least 35% to be getting any significant number of seats, unless you target very specifically and also get tactical voting working.
My prediction is Lab 420, Con 100, LibDem 50, Green 10, SNP 30, Reform 5, the rest 35. Majority 190.
Sounds about right, tbh.
How have we got to this point where this makes headline news
I have to admit I’d forgotten about this. Private Eye were onto it back in the day but received a visit from some very sinister men in dark suits who were assumed to be from MI5 or the like. I worked for a guy in Bangkok who was at Uni with Blair and he had plenty of eye watering tales about Mr Lynton. Apparently his appearance at Bow Street took place in camera under conditions of strict secrecy. Isn’t it amazing how the establishment types look after their own when the chips are down, of course with this skeleton in his cupboard Blair would have been in hock for the rest of his life to certain establishment figures, which probably explains many of the decisions he took as PM. Aint democracy wonderful!
Absolutely. My guess is that whoever had him by the balls wasn’t interested in domestic politics. You’ve got to wonder why he allowed himself to be vilified by the rest of Europe over the Iraq invasion when at all other times, before and after he gave blind unqualified support to Bush, he was desperate to drag us down the integration route.
Sounds like that was what he was after in the first place
Once upon a time, Project Fear was derided. Now it’s the latest Tory tactic - all they’ve got left. (Apart from, obviously, lying about their own promises and Labour’s proposals)
Project Fear was pushed by the majority of the Tories during Brexit - The Tory govt was solidly remain
Thats why remain lost - too much time telling people how bad it will be and not enough time selling the benefits
I am guessing the housing market collapse is hiding under the same bush as that bus
The tory government was officially neutral, but yes, almost the entirety of their MPs campaigned strongly against leaving. (I hesitate to say they campaigned in favour of remaining because as you say, there was almost nothing positive put forward by anyone opposing brexit. The remain campaign was almost wholly negative.) It’s also worth noting that the only party with an official party policy of leaving was UKIP, which not only makes the result even more surprising, but suggests to me that had there been a more equal debate the result would have been far more decisive than it was.
Filled in my postal voting form this morning…
I wrote “they’re all useless” across it and put a cross in every box…
Childish, maybe…
Surely a cock and balls in each of the boxes
Found out that eight candidates standing in my constituency.
This is wonderful news.
It means I can fit ALLCUNTS perfectly and vertically on my ballot paper.
I’ll need some form of ID though.
No, you won’t.
That would be transphobic.
Surely a box with a cock and balls in it is just straight heterosexual.
