Watched Jackie Brown last night. It is probably everybody’s least watched Tarantino film, so it was good to revisit it. Pam Grier does a fine job carrying the film - there’s a running visual theme of Jackie viewed side-on. At the start of the film, she is literally being carried along. By the end, she’s striding forward on her own terms.

Really forgot Samuel L Jackson’s performance as the up and coming Ordelle, but remembered De Niro’s take as the psychotic stoner Lewis. Bridget Fonda is the size of a small shed these days.

An Indian workmate of mine recommended me a Bollywood film on Netflix called Bahubali: the beginning. It’s in Hindi with subtitles. I’m not a big fan of singing and dancing in films and there’s a bit of that in this but not too much and I loved it.

Bahubali is a good natured great big hunk of a man with beautiful hair and a moustache who likes to push horses over in battle. I don’t know what else I can say to sell it to you.

That’s a very large buttplug he’s got there…

I miss Barry Norman all of a sudden.

And why not?

True, Barry Norman would have noted the buttplug in a much more erudite way than I did.

It’s actually a penis plug that he’s about to insert in to the urethra of the enormous giant gushing his spunk in the background.

In all seriousness it’s actually an abstract representation of the god Shiva and not something you want to stick up your butt in the polite company of Hindus.

Ryan Gosling as Sylvester Stallone lookalike & Chris Evans as a cartoon baddy in a modernised Bond/Bourne spy caper

Sequels & spin offs coming

Watchsble

Watched this last night.

Great fun, Peter O’Toole impeccable as always.

Well. That was a surprise.

Prey Disney + & Hulu.

A prequel to the really irrelevant (maybe even failed these days) Predator franchise set 300 years ago.

A Predator lands in the Comanche Nation. A young Teenage girl dreams of being a Hunter and is confined to hunting for herbs.

There is simply no way that is going to be worth watching.

But it is.

For the 1st 40 minutes, the Cinematography and scenery (in the actual Nation) is simply stunning. The storyline is built well and creates an attachment to the main characters, the girl & her Dog. Amber Midhunter is captivating as Naru, she shows she has skills.

Now we all know how Predator films pan out, but this brings in points of interest along the way.

Be in no doubt, this is a really good film. Certainly the best Predator since Arnie and maybe breathes life back into it.

With record viewing hours and outstanding critic & audience scores, Hulu may have missed a trick by not releasing this in Theatres.

8/10 for the scenery & cinematography alone. Well worth 90 minutes of your time
