šŸ“½ Films I have seen

Currently on my dodgy provider that @lifeintheslowlane uses

Love the use of AC/DC in it so far

Elvis.
Very sad.
Very brutal

Brilliant performances but such a horror show of how horrific some people can be. Brilliant but awful film/story

Watched American Gangster again the other night with me ma. It’s an excellent film with some stand out moments. Russell Crowe pulls off the acting experience of a lifetime by playing a man who doesn’t look like he’s about to beat up his directors or fans.

However, this is Denzel’s movie. As Frank Lucas, he can be charming and terrifying.

It’s going on my gangster movie rotation list.

Finally got round to watching Midsommar last night.
Apparently telling Kid G: ā€œthat’s what the hostels will be like on your gap yearā€ wasn’t appropriate.

True Story
And brilliant.
Zac Efron on a journey from a NYC suburb to deliver beers to boyz from the Hood in Vietnam.
And boy does he lear some lessons on the way.

Marvellous if you have a way of look (ing at movie(s)

On a bit of an 80s kick at the moment.

Last night I watched Better Off Dead, a teen comedy starring John Cusack. It’s a black comedy about an obsessed ex-boyfriend dumped by his girlfriend who makes numerous failed suicide attempts.

I watched it loads as a kid, but I’m surprised at how well this one holds up. It is a silly film which commits to its silliness. There are in-jokes that run the length of the movie, such as a psychotic paper boy constantly on the hunt for a delinquent two dollar sum. His mother’s inability to cook being so legendary that she manages to make sentient slime and gives out TV dinners for Christmas.

My favourite character doesn’t even have a line in the film. This would be Lane’s younger brother Badger, a silent genius who makes excellent use of available reading materials.

I shall be moving onto its spirtual successor, One Crazy Summer, this weekend. There might also be a bit of Cannonball Run on the horizon.

It’s just very silly but good

What a load of utter bollox.
Marvelous
Every Saints fan should watch this steamingly wonderful pile of turd instead of the game tomorrow
Much more fun.
Love it

The Neil Baldwin film?

A great watch - the autobiography is a good read.

No, he was replying to me about Bullet Train

And yes, having watched it for the 2nd time, Top Gun Maverick is just perfect Hollywood film-making.
Wonderful nonsense, beautifully filmed

Three Days of the Condor.

Never seen it in all these years, had it recorded for some time and just watched it. Cracking film.

So yes, I’m watching Minions, The Rise of Gru.

Marvellous nonsense

Uncharted is a Treasure Hunt thingy. More poor National Treasure than Indiana Jones.
Decent cast hams it up and clearly it’s intended t launch a new franchise.
In it’s favour is that it is in the Top 20 highest grossing films of the year but in reality with a 6.6 IMDB rating it isn’t pulling up any trees.

I’d file it under ā€œbuggerā€ should have saved that for Christmas Day after Lunch when I just want to sit on the sofa, fart and stare blankly at some nonsense

Sounds like the sales pitch for a retirement home.

Watching the rest tonight. It offers nothing new to the Franchise.
But I still sprayed Vodka at the NO SPOILERS bit

There is NO version of reality where watching All Quiet on the Western Front (Netflix) is enjoyable
However, like visiting Auschwitz, it is something you MUST do.
Not as good as the original but Jeez
