Son of Saul is now on Netflix. It’s powerful, unyielding stuff and not at all exploitative.

It’s a really intense film, the POV really works, it’s beautifully made just really can’t recommend as it’s unremittingly sad

Golden Globe awards this morning

Dirty Grandpa wth Robert de Niro

Somebody has stolen my life again and given it to the yanks for monetary gain.

The first steal was by Paul Carter who wrote.

Don’t Tell Mum I Work on the Rigs, She Thinks I’m a Piano Player in a Whorehouse

Living on scraps of easy downloads until month end when we can get proper tv & interweb running.

Watched Blue Ruin. Strangely NOT a documentary about a football club going bust, but an oddball stripped down revenge" thriller.

Offbeat, oddball and gripping.

Deep Impact - dear God, the fiteh star from that is now 50 years old.

Love the end of Deep Impact.

“Yah? Europe? It’s fucked”

I’m a news and sports cameramen guy :slight_frown: With pretensions of being a cinema cameraman

I thought all you Bristolian cameramen worked for David Attenborough and took pretty pictures of animals and plants?

I thought they filmed either the same beach or same street every week & called it Dr Whosualty?

I watched this last night as a homage to Ted (and because my wife wanted to watch it). It is a very good film and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I found it engaging and the anticipation of who/what the aliens are was well built. I enjoyed the questions the ending produced in my tiny mind.

I find writing film reviews very difficult. I prefer to just say “Liked it” or “good” or “excellent” for those that Iview favourably. For the ones I’m less keen on, I prefer “Shit!”, “Wank”, “Crap”, “I didnt like it”.

Or just a number system. Out of 10 (or multiply it by 10 to get the score out of 100).

I’d give Arrival 8/10 or 80/100

I’d give Hell or High water 7/10 or 70/100

When grading football players, me and my mate always have a discussion about what an average performance is. I say 6/10 is average and he says 5/10 is average. I say 7/10 means good, 8/10 means very good, 9/10 means excellent and 10/10 means outstanding.

5/10 means below average, 4/10 means poor, 3/10 means very poor, 2/10 means fucking poor, 1/10 means really fucking shit

What is 1.73/10?

Also, what score is quite poor?

4.5 is quite poor

1.73 would be rounded up to 2 so is fucking poor
