šŸ“½ Films I have seen

Then I give your recent posts on points to poorness, 1.73/10.

Perhaps they need more car chases, or a love interest?

down voted for bullying.

The 1.73.

Yeah that has a ring about it, could be a sequel to 73 Hours or whatever.

Keep it going chaps, Philli Saint will quote the posts somewhere and before you know it you’ll be reviewing the movie of your revieming

Saw Arrival tonight and agree with Fats, one of the best films I’ve seen for ages.

It kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finsh and is paced perfectly. It really is gripping and I’d rate it at 9/10 (only because I never give anything a 10 )

Also saw Hacksaw Ridge this week and was surprised just how good it was.

I often find US military movies a bit annoying with all the pumped up bravado, uncle sams boys save the world type bollocks. This movies not like that, it’s a true story of a remarkable man who’s heroics (without carrying a weapon) saved 70 lives and completely turned on it’s head the military’s misconception that consciencious objecters were cowards.

There plenty of action in it but it’s so much more than just another war film.

A highly recommended 8/10

Just got back from watching the new Trainspotting film, massive fan of the first film so was a bit apprehensive as to how this one would turn out, as it was I really enjoyed it, all 4 of the actors slotted back into their roles as if it had only been a years gap rather than 20. Lots of nostalgia set ups but they get away with it by the pure fact that some of the characters haven’t seen each other since the events of the first film. All in all it was dark, tense, violent, occasionally moving and very funny. Add to that another pumping soundtrack and I’ll give it 8/10 **SMILEY PENIS EMOJI**

Watched the original Trainspotiing Friday night with our 15 year old. What a classic film. Going to watch the new one in the week or possibility next weekend, looking forward to it.

I havent seen this film, but thought I would add this anyway. A friend went to see La La Land. He has never walked out of a film in his life but left this one after 20 mins as it was so crap.

i was bit tempted by that cos it is v.hype + I’d quite like to bang emma stone, but then I remember that I don’t like Musicals in general, cos I am v.fussy about what I put in my ears, and unless the Songs and Singing are v.good, I will be v.bored, so I decided not to Risk It rip

Online update.

Amazon Prime video has gone native. About 10,000 Bellwood movies & Jack Reacher 1. Once free trial ends gotta wonder if worth paying $4 a month to watch Jezza & High Castle.

So signed up to Netflix. Ooh what a difference. Treating (snork) Mrs D_P to the entire Star Trek movies from 1979 onwards

The Motion Picture is cued up ready to roll

(Hown did I get so many Brownie points? Got her a set list signed by the Bellamy Brothers… simples)

He missed out! Gd movie srs. There was moments where i was like, wow, this is fkn gr8! and there was other bits, mainly when they was doing their dumb singing, where I was bit bored but even then it was beautiful film to look at. Prob worth watching on big screen just for that. And then, when it ended, I had feelings and things, which was awful, but also quite nice.

That bro what made it, he made that Whiplash movie too. What a range that guy has got! I look forward to seeing what he does next srs.

I got half way through Cloverfield last night and gave up. I remember all the fuss when it was released but didnt get around to seeing it. I have seen scarier episodes of Dr Who. Oh, and the head of the Statue of Liberty is very large - the one that ends up in the street in Manhatten is very small.

i watched the movie about the people who are on the spaceship. It was a bit non-plausible. If I was only one awake + all alone on spaceship I would prob have half the other caskets opened in the first half hour, but this bro waited like a whole year before he found that one of the sleeping woman had Large Breasts, and woke her up so they could bang.

I watched the last two Hunger Games films the other day only so that I could find out what happens in the end.

I could quite happily have spent the rest of my life not knowing…

I’m watching Jewel of the Nile at the moment, cos it happens to be on tv. Its portrayal of arabs and other darkies is making me proper lol. What are other crappy, 80s, blatantly racist movies like this to watch pls?

Just flick through the Freeview channels of a daytime Bear - there’s usually something to help the olds remember when racism was acceptable…

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, @bearsy .

The Indian government disliked the premise so much that they wouldn’t let them film there. It was filmed in Sri Lanka, who were probably all too pleased to portray the Indians as mindless brown simpletons.

The leader of the Indian village that they save the kids from knew fuck all English. He learned every single line phonetically. The ā€œIndiansā€ are either evil bastards that rip people’s hearts out and practice vile sorcery, powerless childless weaklings, quislings of the British Empire, kids getting slapped about in a mine or food perverts. And everyone is rocking a turban, as everyone in India does.

They even ā€œbrowned upā€ the same fucking guy (Pat Roach) they cast as a the moustachioed muscle-bound German in Raiders for the obligatory ā€œbig guy vs Indyā€ scene.

It’s also embarrassingly sexist. Spielberg and Lucas were both going through divorces. Willie is obviously the personification of their opinion of women at the time. Someone you just couldn’t put up with.

… or take your pick of the Carry On films or any of the old british Ealing/Pinewood comedies.

Saw Peter Sellers classic comedy ā€˜I’m All Right Jack’ the other week and could hardly believe some of the racial comments in it. At the time considered quite innocuous and there for laughs but nowadays they wouldn’t get away with it

Barry knows more about this sort of thing so he should be able to confirm.
