šŸ“½ Films I have seen

He made a movie called High Rise, from a JG Ballard novel. It’s visually great but, it’s one of these books you can’t transfer on to film.

Seeing as it’s almost Christmas I’m going to watch Home Alone 2 again, here’s a great clip :lou_wink:

Son of Saul - eviscerating. I don’t know if I should have watched it or not.

I had no intention of watching new Star Wars film, but I am starting to get suckered in by the hype srs. Is anyone seen it? Is it genuine good? I feel like people are trying to trick me again!

Bare in mind before you answer that I got suckered in to watching the last one, and I thought it was less than good. And in fact, the only Star Wars film I genuine like is the first one, or the fourth one, or whatever it is really. The one where the rescue the Princess Leia from the the Dead Star.

I’m probably not the best person to advise you seeing as I loved The Force Awakens. However Rogue One does tie into Episode IV and it’s definitely the darkest film in the series, so who knows you might like it. I already wanna go see it again.

I saw Rogue One tonight. It was fine. Very messy in some parts (particularly the first act) but the final third is pretty good. Far too many cliches and too many characters for my liking but it’s a nice addition to the series - something different.

The night before. Seth Rogen & mates stoned in New York at Christmas getting more stoned.

Classic nonsense. Classic anti xmas movie. Kind of a Christmas Carol theme involving weed Miley Cyrus & Shrooms

Not tecnichally films I have seen but some to look out for and get hyped up about this year. Big releases I’m particularly keen on; Hacksaw Ridge, T2, Dunkirk, Alien Covenant and Bladerunner 2049. Oh and some film about space wizards.

I watched Hell or High Water the other day. It was good.

I watched Hardcore Henry the other day. I am a big fan of the Bad Motherfucker video, a precursor to this done by the same people. I’m not sure I can recommend it yet. It probably deserves another viewing.

They’ve enlisted the likes of Sharlto Copley to give the thing a big of Hollywood oomph, but the entire film is shot from Henry’s first person perspective. They’re aping a videogame style; doing it in real life is a lot harder. Henry wakes up in a bed with no memory and a couple of limbs missing. Quickly fitted with cybernetic replacements by his scientist wife, the place is attacked before he can get his voicebox implanted, much violence and chaos ensues and we go from there.

I shared Henry’s state of confusion for most of the film. Perhaps that’s the point, but I didn’t know what the fuck was going on. I also got the sense that you can have too much of a good thing. There’s only so many times you can see a bloke kill attackers in creative ways from a first person perspective. Sticking to their guns on first person also limited the scope.

However, I’m not about to write it off entirely yet. There are quite a few films I’ve near written off on first viewing as a result of crap exposition, only to enjoy later on.

Passengers. Interesting premise and some good special effects but disappointed with the typical Hollywood ending.

My pick of last year. Amy Adams is incredible.

Watched a couple of excellent movies tonight,

First off was ā€˜Girl With All The Gifts’ … don’t be put of by it’s zombie tag, there’s nothing generic about it. It’s a really fresh take on the zombie apolalypse theme. Nicely paced and with an excellent performance from the girl in the leading role, it keeps you wondering right to the end. It’s a bit ā€˜different’ and well worth a watch.

Next up was ā€˜Nocturnal Animals’ which more than lives up to all it’s hype… A powerful, classy thriller, which is tense from the off and cleverly knits three different storylines into one. Wouldn’t be surprised if it picked up a couple of major awards.

Re-watched dangerous days, excellent feature length documentary on Bladerunner, as part of my ongoing excitement for Bladerunner 2049 :lou_smiley:

The teaser trailer looks good, just relieved it’s Denis Villenueve directing
