May well take you up on your last recommendation - am a fan of John Cusack for sure
Creator. Netflix
Clever, beautifully filmed Sci-Fi/AI, I Robot story.
It is very worth watching, a worthy 7/10 and would be more except it is a bit longer than the story needs.
Enjoyed
We watched the new Mission Impossible film last night, courtesy of @Goatboy and his recent fire stick suggestion. Decent film, but fucking hell, you know youāre knocking on a bit when Simon Pegg starts to look old
Heās so old these days he (& Nick Frost) have turned into cartoons in their latest outing
(Scott Pilgrim)
Leave the world behind.
Well tbh keep the world leave the movie.
Big noise big cast Baraka & Michelle Obama Directing.
What a waste of talent
It is shit with a total waste of time arthouse ending.
2.5 hours of shit for 1 amusing anecdotal scene.
Nah.
Go watch Obliterated again much more entertaining
The Covenant. Guy Ritchie being unlike any of his previous films. A story of the betrayal of loyal interpreters by the US (and UK) in the Afghan war
Thoughtful, considered and character led. Jake Gyllenhaal is excellent.
I saw this a few months back, it is a very good, thought provoking movie with first class performances. Very topical at the moment too, with the breaking story yesterday regarding the 200 members of Afghan special forces, trained and funded by the UK who are facing imminent deportation to their Taliban controlled homeland where goodness knows what horrible fate awaits them.
General Sir Richard Barrons, who served the British Army in Afghanistan for over twelve years, told the BBC that the failure of the UK to relocate these soldiers āis a disgrace and reflects that we are duplicitous as a nation and incompetentā. āIt is a betrayal, and the cost of that betrayal will be that brave people who served with us will die or spend their lives in prisonā.
In 2021 Prime Minister Johnson told Parliament that the service of these Afghan special forces had been, āincredibly importantā, adding the UK would do āwhatever we canā to get āsafe passageā for them.
This betrayal shames us all. I forget who it was who observed that āThe sun never sets on the British Empire because God doesnāt trust the British in the darkā, but whoever it was is spot on.
100% this. Saw that news article myself after posting about the film. Disgusting.
Back to the film, I should add that Dar Salim was brilliant too
Watched āThe Creatorā over the weekend.
Not seen A.I. but have been told it is very similar, anyway I did quite enjoy it and would recommend
Read a bit about the film/camera team and they made the locations sing when mixed with the CGI.
Enjoyable
Im wading my way slowly through The Holdovers atm.
Strange you dont get it until January when it could be a big but serious Xmas film. Paul Gambiatti is superb.
Is it on Netflix, Apple tv or Prime?
Prime. And for a change, not requiring any additional payment
At this time of year my life is hell.

Grumpy teacher angry kid stuck in a New England boarding school.
This is a wonderful film - takes 20 minutes at least yo get going but then the script and cast deliver an absolute gem of a film.
Its on Amazon USA but for some stupud reason not UK that is a crime
Paul Giamatti would be up for an Oscar in any other non Barbieheimer year
Beautiful film try and find it
I cannot quite believe that Barbie has got 9 Golden Globe nominations, nine!!
Itās not even deserving of 1 IMHO
Her bra should be up for best supporting role.
Her dress is struggling as well, tbh
