Yeah, European ones going on the figures.
Many cultures in Europe though aren’t there, the closed off ones and also the open and tolerant ones.
We agreed of course but I chose the name and I went to register her.
That’s very cool, and it’s a beautiful name.
How about we keep this thread about issues around feminism, and not about feminism as a political football? There are so many political threads already on here, and frankly, they’re all a complete testosterone fueled turn off. How about we keep this one away from all that?
I’d rather Tokyo came out and called me a man-hater, than have to sit through another left vs right political f’ing shambles.
I look forward to the day when women, no matter where they are in the world, Libya or Liverpool, get a say in the name of their child. Of course, men will always try and hold onto the naming rights as a form of power but we must confront such backward practices when we see them.
Droll, very droll chubby punter, you know the drill, you discuss you agree on a name and then you register. I take it you’ve gone down the civic centre and empowered yourself in your nameday of Mr Fatso?
The following link doesn’t prove anything but maybe it hints that things are not as certain as you seem to think they are in terms of opportunities for women and the UK being a leading light:
Why is Russia so good at encouraging women into tech
Anecdotally I would also offer another case for you to consider. I get flown around the world quite regularly to give technical engineering training courses to groups of engineers typically educated to masters or PhD level. Most places I go, women are significantly outnumbered by men on my course. Britain is actually one of the worst usually something like 9 men to 1 woman. What’s the place I’ve been with best representation of women in my course?.. Oman. Nearly a 50/50 split. And not just on one occasion. I’ve been there numerous times. To different companies and every time women have been extremely well represented.
Maybe they just bring their wives along?
Ah Oman that place of equality we all aspire to, get the fuck outta here SWDP. I take these were Omani women?
Exactly bazza. They don’t call it Owoman, do they?
Yes they were Omani women. I’m not saying that Oman is a perfect society which we should aspire to be like in every way but neither is it completely backward in comparison. There’s no denying that Oman has big problems with inequality between Omani’s and migrant labour being a huge issue. I’m sure there are sexual inequality issues as well. However, the problems didn’t slap me in the face when talking to the people on my courses and when walking the streets and malls. In fact the Omani people both male and female come across as some of the most relaxed happy people I’ve ever met.
They wouldn’t,(in relation to the inequalities) you were talking and mixing with an elite of society.
Pretty much all Omanis are an elite of society thanks to the migrant labour (and the oil). The people on my courses had above average education, sure, but they are engineers not princes. They earn less then I do. They commute over an hour each way too and from work every day. They need loans to buy a house. I saw happy people everywhere in the parks in the restaurants on the streets. Even some of the migrants gave off a happy vibe. I spoke to a couple of Indian Muslims for example who had worked in Saudi Arabia previously and they were extremely happy with life in Oman by comparison.
You really do know absolutely nothing about these countries, do you Barry? Fly into Doha and i bet when you go through passport control, it’s a Qatari woman that questions you. Then get a cab to education city and look how many students are Arab women(it’ll be at least equal to the men). Then look over the road at the statues outside the hospital. They’ll confuse your thinking even more.
All nationals of these countries are elites. They import people for the shit work.
I know enough to know the men rule, it’s a Muslim nation, is Oman a free Country?
Men rule everywhere bazza, not just in Muslim countries as you’d like to have us believe.
Look at the figures for some evidence. Surprisingly, Rwanda tops the list for biggest share of female MPs.
Who rules this country(you know it’s the men) and do you believe you’re truly free(even as a man)?
It’s a fucking simple game this. Rather like your views on countries you quite clearly know nothing about.
Ask a Muslim woman to explain it to you(back on topic Lou).
We’re freer here in Europe without religion and shite cultural ties than elsewhere, now piss off and move to your place of fantasy, Kashmir or Indonesia dear sir?
They do unfortunately but how many Muslims reside in Rwanda?
