Feminism

Nice try thanks

Relevant??

Well what was your question for?

Read it digest the implications of it and ask me again.

Nails it.

My old boss mysteriously left with no notice while back.

Turns out he was sending inappropriate texts and emails to a team member.

The co told him to resign or go through a disciplinary process and probably be sacked.

Think the Co didn’t want it in the open

Anyway, they did the right thing as any sort of sexual harrassment is wrong.

Trouble is that she had form for doing the same at her previouscompany and pulling out the harassment trump card when her work took a nosedive. In both cases was the bloke lead on to provide a convenient reason for her poor work? We’ll never know I guess but the bloke was a complete fool.

Anyway I got his job, which is good. Unfortunately, but to the joy of the company, the woman is now on final disciplinary process for gross misconduct relating to her work. Turns out she was useless and a bully to other team members.

I started this trying to make a point but lost track. Anyway I’m 100% for equality, but it has to cut both ways for males and females.

Right, sun is over the yard-arm. A splosh in the pool and then grab first cocktail of the day

Mrs BS has experienced some fairly insidious gender bias at her workplace. It is a national company employing about 34,000 employees. It is in a male-dominated industry but makes a big thing of promoting ethnic and gender diversity. Anyway, Mrs BS is pretty senior in this organization (two levels down from director).

recently, a couple of promotion opportunities have come up. In both cases, despite being the best-qualified person (and in one case, the only qualified person), she was passed over for men. (In the latter case, she has a pretty cast iron case of gender discrimination, should she choose to pursue it).

Now, this could be some issue with her as a person, were it not the case that several other women going for promotions to this level have also been passed over and subsequently left the organization. Added to this, the only female director resigned recently (citing in private that she was being belittled and ignored by her male colleagues).

These are all well-educated engineering professionals in an organization that is seeking to promote itself as being at the forefront of gender equality and has flashy campaigns aimed at getting more women involved in engineering and science. If they can’t get it right, then god knows what it must be like in more chauvinist organizations.

Mhm. Basically this.

Yeah I know a guy who got into a disciplinary for just inviting a coworker for a coffee downstairs (literally “really nice working with you on the project - let me know if you ever fancy meeting for a coffee sometime”) - he works for a big company with a Pret and Nero etc. kinda in-built to the building etc. (admittedly he’s in his 40s and she’s like 27 or so but still - quite harsh).

Anyway - it was thrown out and he was totally aquitted and everything but yeah. Not nice really.

Moving slightly away from the feminism topic of the thread there was another issue at a previous workplace where a female colleague of mine had a really, really high-pitched squealing laugh that kinda bothered everyone. Another colleague of mine asked her (very politely) to keep it down if she could and she flew into a rage that he was ‘bullying’ her etc.

I felt sorry for them both really. He was obviously treated quite unfairly by her but at the same time, it can’t be nice to have people find just the sound of your laughter actively unpleasant.

I guess at the end of the day, HR departments get a lot of flack, but at the same time its a tough balancing act when corporations are so conscious of keeping everyone happy and keeping the workplace welcoming and all that malarkey.

Ever Ready Philippine is more appropriate @bathsaint :lou_is_a_flirt:

I have just been told I need to go on a man management course :lou_angry:

Is that like Pimping for rent boys :lou_lol:

Your latent chauvinism is showing through there - you just can’t help yourself, can you?

It’s a PERSON-management course. :lou_eyes_to_sky:

I don’t see the problem with the above hiring process. Less demeaning in my opinion than the one Mr Trampoline described he had to go through. It takes what, an hour for them to do their makeup and 30 Mins to get a good photo. Mr Trampoline had to spend days agonising on here, memorizing shit, covering his room in scrawl and who knows what he actually did in person to get on the scheme.

Recruitment and employment generally is demeaning from start to finish, maybe this method cuts through a lot of the bullshit.

I had to suck off the CEO, as well as do a three online tests, a video interview, a face-to-face interview, a group excercise, a maths test, a written excercise and a presentation to get myself into the top 2% of the 28,000 candidates (most of whom, unlike me, went to private school of course) who applied for the job.

But hey, as you rightly say, that’s the experience of the young working man these days I’m afraid. Good thing I went to a Grammar school which gives you a route to compete with the sons of the Abbotts and Thornberrys.

Out of sheer self-sacrifice though, I was part of the effort to ensure that we leave the European Union, which should make things easier for my contempories whilst also scotching young Tilly and Tabitha’s chances of studying Renaissance poetry in Florence as a bonus. Ha!

Never ceases to amaze how up in arms dudes get because they know of one bloke that got some sort of accusation, which supposedly proves how out of control feminism/pc/HR whatever are.

Yet, if you pick pretty much any woman at random, 99% of them can give you countless examples of the shit they receive on a daily basis.

Pathetic.

And yeah, PETA, are utter Scum. Do they fight for a worthy cause, of course. But stunts like this, and some of the others already detailed here show their true colours. Their previous shots at victims of sexual abuse show they don’t give a flying fuck about feminism.

What does PETA stand for?

just asking like.

Its OK I googled it.

Sound like a bunch of weirdo’s to me.

Why are we talking about PETA on the Feminism thread surely it is a completely seperate issue?

Unless somebody has refered feminists to animals and that they should all be ethically treated?

Well its a tricky one because the main clash facing feminism doesn’t come from Western men or Western society, but from imported cultures with totally backward ideas on the role of women and gender equality, which is jolly annoying for lefties - so if there’s a chance to somehow, at a push, implicate what’s perceived to be a white, Western organisation as being the new forefront of patriarchal oppression then you’ve gotta grab it if you can - no matter how slight it may be.

Your general point is right though - it is really weird when people make a big thing about the bikini girls rather than the clit-choppers - and to most neutrals it just ends up with them looking on in bemusement.

You need to get out there and meet more women.

could somebody explain where PETA is about feminism?
