Just Real and Barca left. The European Super League is basically the Spanish league, but with less teams competing!

“Junk-bonds for goalposts.”

:joy:

It’s getting a bit “Hitler in the bunker” now - it’s over - give it up

One was comparing Legacy fans to legacy IT systems

I quite like this comparison

Something that’s been with the organization for as long as anyone can remember
Refuses to integrate with anything else
Stubbornly clings on to the old way of doing things
The owners would love to move on, but are terrified of what might happen if they turn it off
Only one or two people in the organisation understand what makes it tick

Analysis

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague on BBC Radio 5 Live

Perez has got a vision and apparently the rest of the world is not seeing it and that’s dangerous when someone feels like that.

He kept saying, in his second appearance in a disastrous PR campaign, that he’s there to save football.

He’s talking about big losses - in the case of Real Madrid, they’ve gone from expecting to earn 900m euros (£779m) to 600m euros (£519m) in only one season, and that stops them doing a lot of their projects, like maybe signing Kylian Mbappe from Paris St-Germain.

In Spain, we are a completely different type of fan. We don’t act against things we think are unfair. In England, it is more like a lifestyle. They are taking something off you and you go out to try to get it back.

Perez has been untouchable for many years. But this vision did not really have strong foundations so the media are having a bit of a laugh here.

We are all very surprised Joan Laporta and Barcelona have not come out and pushed away from this idea. But, they are so desperate for money that they think whoever comes up with the right idea, they will just join in.

We are a little bit disappointed by the leaders of the two biggest clubs in Spain.

So the Great Revenge has started

The FA have been rewarded with an extra Euro game because Dublin couldn’t get their shit sorted out as a thank you for helping to torpedo the ESL

Those necky cunts in north London kindly offered to host some games and have been to told to do one by UEFA. It’s such a shame because the Spurs stadium would have been ideal

Lol

Ouch

Deluded or something else…

Ok, let them stay and just put out their youth teams for every game. That’ll sort it.

Deffo something else. This all went sour once points deducting and exit from Champions League and Europa got real. IMHO this is just about stalling until the end of the season. Once the Summer break is here and no-one can placard wave outside OT at the start of a prem game on Sky, the real side of this will be seen. There’s no way something this big was announced without some form of legal background. The climb down was to save face until the season is done. People think the fans changed it but the reality was the prize money loss changed it … There’s no coincidence that the ones with the most to lose this season were the first with their tails between their legs.

That’s kind of what I was expecting to happen. There would be Man City B-team playing in the domestic competitions, with the 500k-per-week players turning out for the superleague. And the clubs involved could afford to do that, without increasing their squad size; they could probably field two completely different sides from the current squad capable of beating most teams outside the big 4/6.
