sadly have to agree. What concerns me is that At the end if the day, without these clubs and their players, all remaining competitions whether national league or cup, european or International competitions become poorer, and as a result loose a significant amount of commercial value… in effect, much less TV revenue for FIFA, UEFA, the PL and clubs…
So whatever gans think and no matter what outcry there is I would hazard a guess that a deal is reached stacked in these clubs favour as the national leagues become desperate not to see dwindling revenues…
These clubs know they have the power - as someone said, if Manchester united could charge 50p average for watching thei games on any mobile device globally, thinkof the earning potential - estimates could be as much as £50m-£100m a game…
This is not going away, all that will be debated over the summer is is what crumbs go FIFA and UEFA and the PL to stay in ghat competition as well … in which they will field development squads no doubt that are better and more expensive than all the non SL clubs put together… and fans will keep going and paying because they do support their clubs…
There was a great interview with one of the TV gobshites talking about how high and mighty some of the “14” owners have been over the ESL whilst still charging £8 for 4 bags of crisps at their own stadium. Still, at least it’s not all about money but looking after the fans …
It will take is for the various FA’s to agree not to select their players for the national teams. We will then find out how the 12 intend to carry on without the majority of their squads.
The older ones like Messi will stay, but can you imagine Kane, Foden, Rashford, De Bruyne etc. being prepared to miss World Cups?
Can anyone clarify things for me? The clubs all claim they have withdrawn but Perez claims they can’t as they signed binding contracts so exactly what is the legal position? Are they still in and it will all be resurrected at a later date or is it actually dead?
I think the teams have said they are out and their lawyers are currently looking for ways to wriggle out of the contract
The English teams are most at risk because they pulled out first and the Italians could say a super league without the Brits is not what they signed up for
Legally they’re still in but there are a couple of get outs:
The English clubs can claim force majeure over Johnson’s government intervention threat
Apparently there was a clause that 70% of the Super League clubs have to agree to proceed at some point in the Summer or else it dissolves automatically
The quicker the so called ‘big six’ fuck off and join this Super league the better. Then we can start again, making sure that there is a level playing field in the English top league, so that at the start of the season all teams have an equal chance. You may call me a dreamer!
