Actually, the decision will be made properly and rationally by the family committee, which comprises myself and Mrs S. It is a very structured constitutional body, well-equipped to make difficult decisions.
The Standing Orders are:
Mrs S is Chair, permanently, ex officio. She is also Vice Chair.
There is a quorum of 1, which must include either the Chair or Vice Chair. Without one of those present, all decisions are void.
As befits their standing, ordinary members have 1 vote. The Chair has 3. (You may consider that 2 would be sufficient to ensure a majority, but this ensures all decisions are by an overwhelming majority).
Just to be on the safe side, the Chair and Vice Chair, if both present, both have votes and the Chair has the casting vote.
But Iâm grateful. It has to be better than a dictatorship.

Sheâs very nervous about going, but itâs not yet ruled out.
My estimate is weâre about 60-70% likely to postpone.
