Story of my life. I spend a lot of time figuring out trying ways of making their half-baked ideas work in my business. Great intentions but absolutely no fucking idea in the real world. Most of the staff never give a flying fuck about the latest health or wellbeing āinitiativeā that costs the business a fortune.
Here in Poland we have a hybrid health system. Basic NHS means access to 4 State Hospitals in town. Each level of medical insurance through work gives you more range.
I joked the other day, the Insurance companies will stop covering non vaxed for Covid dropping them down to basic level.
They are now talking about it happening.
Dont jab in UK? Fine, no hospital for you. Why should others pay or be denied other critical care. What about their rights?
Oh that causes a shot storm debate everywhere!
The pedometer one was the last straw for me
Basically we would pay a company a load of money, they would give everyone a pedometer and we would all record our steps and then run competitions for the most walked - and then we would have a special website (more money) to track it
I think the total cost was in the region of £10k for 100 people - the scheme died a death when I suggested the troops would probably rather have a £100 in their pocket rather than a pedometer
A lot of employee benefits providers are going all gamefication of wellness/wellbeing. App this App that etc. pisses me right off.
Strangely in the last 18m or so the biggest take up has been among the old farts (across the stats of our client base that is) rather than the bullet proof youngsters.
Every time I see one of those cunting āpelotonā ads on the box it boils my fucking piss. Especially the one where the doris is sweating away on her fucking bike, with her dog laying patiently in the background knowing heās not going to get his walk today. Again.
Unbelievable
ā⦠As well as changes to the ātraffic lightā list, the cost of staying at a quarantine hotel - which is mandatory if arriving from a red list country - is increasing.
The price for single adult travellers will increase from £1,750 to £2,285 from 12 August, and £1,430 for a second adult.
The government says this better reflects the costs involved. That includes transport to the hotel, security, provision of welfare services and the two PCR tests which must be taken on day two and day eight of the stayā¦ā
Wonder who got the contracts for these hotels- hope they donāt have links to senior Tories
(I could have checked but didnāt tbf.)
Simple - donāt travel to red countries or go to this on amber with rising cases
I just shit canned our Greek holiday because the Ayatollah would spend two weeks stressing about getting it over there and then having to go to one of their quarantine hotels - which will be infinitely worse
Looks like the US are moving towards no vaccine no entry for all foreign visitors - this will eventually be the case if you want to travel anywhere.
That ought to chivvy along a few of the more recalcitrant.
Poland has 160 cases of Covid.
How the fvck is it on the Amber list still?
Moving deck chairs on the titanic
Fuck all sympathy for anyone travelling to an amber country which then turns red
Let the buyer beware
Caveat emptor
Just been double jabbed. Used to mean something else in my day.
An expected result but good to know
A serious post, for a change. Weāre due to go to Spain next month in our motorhome, where we would be virtually self-sufficient but would need occasional supermarket visits.
It would involve 24 hours on a ferry, each way.
Letās say there isnāt total agreement within the Shrop household on the decision. I can postpone without penalty to next year.
On the promise of keeping all respondentsā names confidential for your own safety, who would go ahead?
- The Shroppies should travel, theyāll be safe, but they should buy Hazmat suits for the occasional supermarket trip
- Donāt do itā¦

As I said earlier, its the stress of contracting it over there and then having to quarantine that did for our plans.
I am now will be touring Scotland at a cost that in normal times would have got us to the Maldives business class.
