Hmmm
Magna Carta? Ffs
Jail the bitch.
Yeah, you can blame social media for that…
Ah, that brave Hungarian peasant girl, who forced King John to sign the Pledge at Runnymede and close the boozers at half past ten…
I never realised that the Pope repealed the Magna Carta within a year of it being written
I would like Boris to explain why we have had 30 flights a week arriving from India when they have never had any control over the pandemic?
Ready for the next spike anyone?
I suspect the next wave will more likely due to the great unwashed in the UK going shopping for non-essentials etc etc
Yep but begs the question, if there are 30 flights a week from India, how many from other countries, and how are we rally keeping tabs on those whoshoudl be quarantining?
True. Initially a lot of flights from everywhere were pretty much empty as airlines would lose their slots if not used. Have no idea about nowadays though tbh
The EU are going to sue AZ for failure to deliver
I feel sorry for AZ, they enter the vaccine space to help out, charged their doses at cost and have been castigated ever since
Pfizer / Sanofi and Moderna have done a cracking job at shit canning them - the last thing they want is a new kid on the block selling drugs which undermines their bottom line
I would not feel too sorry for AZ (Not really new kids minds, as Astra and Zeneca were well established before the merger in the 90s) because: Pharma companies have a lot of form for over promising on delivery and supply chain as part of contract negotiations. Indeed is an area the consultancy I work for spends a stupid amount of time trying to resolve and advise pharma on the critical importance of fulfilment with respect to long term relationships with the payer and procurement systems in each country… and too often this advice is ignored or placed at too low in their priorities.
As I understand it, their pricing is only for a limited time and was driven by the the guarantee of the advanced orders… so they had a choice, be more realistic on supply chain capacity / up scaling and price accordingly, or gain a larger share through low price and delivery speed (but with a higher element of risk)
Also the relative revenue for vaccines at these prices is small compared to the those of their block buster drugs… the current prices reflect the future desire to selected for longer term contracts for annual boosters as well (Which AZ have already said would be at the full premium price)
I was under the impression they were new to the vaccine industry
They have a reasonably well established flu vaccine and have a good pipeline for a few years now… as a company, they had a bad period in 90s as they had failed to invest in their development pipeline, but an overhaul meant they now have a stronger portfolio.
Astra formed in about 1930 or so, and Zeneca was the offshoot from ICI
Yeah, it’s almost as if clothing their kids cheaply takes priority…
Zeneca were previously ICI Pharmaceuticals.
Astra were a small player until they came up with Omeprazole which transformed their fortunes.
I too wouldn’t be feeling too sorry for Astra Zenica either, they are well dodgy. So far they have racked up fines of well over $1 billion dollars for various offences. Unapproved promotion of medical products - half a billion. False claims act- half a billion. Kickbacks and bribery - nearly 6 million. Consumer protection violations - 5.5 million. Several large fines for employment discrimination. Environmental violations. Deceptive advertising, unethical research practices, fraud, pricing and anti-competitive behaviour, corruption of clinical trials, the list goes on and on.
