Getting the chimp jab tomorrow. I am on the high risk list, apparently.
Jabs all round then - Me & Mrs C_S too.
Just to make clear, weâre not on a high risk list, itâs just living in Surrey darlingâŠ
( youâd have to live here to understand that phrase and how it conveys the sense of entitlement of the Cobham localsâŠshit, Iâm a local too )
Not sure when Iâm going to get it tbfâŠ
Currently 65-70 group being nabbed here. Maybe 4 weeks to wait for me
Did you know.
(this one really helps save the planet)
There are still some people in the world who have to fly. Some had been with family in South Africa last year and got hit by the lockdown then flight bans.
Some had moved to UK and had applied for Visas for their family to join them.
Even just some of the gang in Dubai.
And about the ONLY way they can currently get back to UK? Is to take a 2 week vacation to The Maldives. (Nice if you can afford it or in some cases travel insurance OR work are paying)
Damn, I left the sandpit too early
The big issue, and I am not surprized its not being made more of in the media, since it has better things to do sharing their views on Meghangate or laughing at Ursula, is that this really is a global issue and whilst we might all be pleased with ourselves getting vaccinated in our UK bubble, the longer this virus is left unchecked in other countries, (Think Brazil in particular, but also the rest of the globe so behind us in the program), the more likely strains or mutations emerge in those countries that render our vaccinations ineffective.
Given our Governments inability to effectively control its borders (there is some irony in there somewhereâŠ) happily letting folks travel it seems, and the desperation for the masses for their âholidaysâ, odds are high we will be going through the same again in the autumn⊠lockdown and new vaccinations, only with less public support.
We donât solve this through unilateral vaccination success, we simply delay the next roundâŠ
So in effect, we should put our neighbourâs house in order before bothering with our own? Our neighbour, in this case, being the entire world beyond the UK?
Seriously?
I get annoyed each day reading Boris cant force me to have a jab to go on holiday tweets.
Duh. Most places they could fly to are going back into lockdown hotels & restaurants shut. They think itâs up to Boris who letâs them in?
And yes @scotty the problem IS global.
Making great political flag waving statements is great, but new variants are occurring,
6 BILLION people need jabs
The supply chain cannot make enough vaccine bottles
The Pharmaceutical supply chain cannot supply enough equipment to factories let alone the core ingredients.
And. Starting next January, everyone could potentially need a Booster jab.
UK has done well. Smugness is not a good look though
Here in East Kent they started booking in the over 50âs a couple of days ago so Mrs SOG has hers booked in tomorrow. My three weeks is up today so hopefully my trips to Tescos are no longer a lottery and I am better protected now. Just heard from a friend in Sweden who still has to wait for her jab and she is in her mid sixties. Despite a catalogue of errors throughout the pandemic at least the government have managed to get this right.
It doesnât matter if our government look smug or not, theyâve been absolutely crucified for every error since the pandemic hit, Iâd say theyâre entitled to look pleased when they finally get something right. What exactly are you expecting them to do about the rest of the world?
The nhs have got this right. The only thing the government got right was (for once) not outsourcing to a cunty tory donor to make obscene profit at the publicâs expense.
Lady Slowlane and I have just read and
âŠmy dears âbelow the saltââŠaffectation carries no weight.
Yep this is a PANDEMICâŠno matter how insulated we feel having had our jab, thinking weâve solved a problem is naive.
They gave the job to the missus of a Tory MP
Jabbed and ready for when they switch on th 5G in our areaâŠ
Not sure what people are getting all het up about - surely better download speeds are a good thing
So Iâve had jab one. Gotta say, very impressed with recent contact Iâve had with the NHS. The Eye Hospital was ace as usual, had to go into a walk-in centre yesterday. They work better with appointments than they did before.
This felt very safe too.
You and Bojo today and apparently 1% of the population today.
