:covid_19: 😷 🏥 Corona Virus the thread for all your fears ❓

So only 66% of care home staff have had the vaccine primarily because of their reluctance to have it

Given that their patients are the most vulnerable of our society at what point does this become a condition of employment

Yeah good question. I have had to provide evidence of immunology for loads of things to gain employment within healthcare settings, I imagine this will get added to the list, if only for the next couple of years whilst we get it under control. We shall see.

If I had a relative in a care home I would be significantly disturbed if I found they were using unvaccinated staff. @Cobham-Saint may have a view on this as I believe his mother is in a care home.

I appreciate that there has to be personal choice but the consequence of that choice is that you may not be able to work in a care home or medical setting

The care homes have an issue because they can’t just ban 34% of their staff - they barely have enough as it is. Hopefully they can persuade them to take it

I do indeed. I can only say about what I know about Mum’s home. As of 28 Jan virtually all residents and staff had been vaccinated- all staff were having 2x lateral flow and 1x pcr tests per week, which I understand has been upped to daily since the recent positive tests amongst staff and inmates. I’m not aware of any staff refusing to be vaccinated.

All the staff wear PPE and residents are currently in lockdown because of the positive tests.

I’d say the home is taking things very seriously. Mum seems to think so too.

If staff decline to take it then continuing with PPE would be the only alternative I suppose.

Does Basingstoke count as Hampshire?

My dad’s favourite joke, that he used to tell every time we drove past Basingstoke, was

Basingstoke used to be by the sea but the sea found it so boring it moved away…

Only good thing about the place in the 80’s was the greasy spoon on the A30 heading away northwards or the Sun Inn gasto pub if you came off at the 1st exit after the A303 junction

Ah, the Sun Inn, always a stop off back in the day. Wasn’t a gastro pub back then. R Whites lemonade and Smith’s crisps was as good as it got and bloody marvelous too…!

WTF

63 backbenchers who could do with a few shifts in ICU I reckon. Cunts.

Couple of obvious questions.

  1. Is there actual proof that the vaccines stop you spreading the virus?
  2. Why are UK Gov spending millions on Covid passports when it should be done by IATA or someone so as to be actually consistent with International needs?

I ask because you will have jabs & will want to go on holidays.
But.
We dont want you.
EU wont be jabbed nor will many others. You have nasty mutants everyone is trying to keep out.
The local lads here - Tour Guides Taxi Drivers, Pub staff will not want Brits shedding the virus everywhere- we get no sick pay, we get paid peanuts.
One airport transfer for £20 and up to 2 weeks off work unpaid.

A lot of social media posters are gonna be sitting there saying I got the jab why wont they let me in.
Sigh

No proof yet but I would expect there will be clear indications soon, probably from Israel.

This CRG are a bunch of twats

That said, the UK would lose their collective shit if we locked down on the back of 3 cases

No they wouldn’t IF we’d had the same success as NZ & Aus and had months of normality last year.
