They have been roundly criticised for it - they didnāt even bother to tell the Irish when that implemented it
They are lashing out all over the place

Ha Ha they look like right tits now.
And the Irish were not happy!
Not an attempt to de-rail the topic.
Personally, I think if HS2 was stopped and the money used elsewhere (like improving rail infrastructure in the north of England) then that would be something positive, a Covid bonus
Feel for them, just coming to the end of my self-isolation because of the girls getting it from a class mate.
The girls have been good, Mrs BTripz got it and has been so-so, sheās pulling through now but still tired most of the time.
BTripz jnr has had 2 tests and both have been -ve, so have mine.
Girlsā school is now closed until half term, they only opened to help the vulnerable children, youād think the parents would have been a bit more cautious but hey, hoā¦
Hang on Mrs C_S was/is the same. It couldnāt be a female attempt to swing the lead a bit parenting wise?
Not at all, she is just not a good patient, people say blokes are hypochondriacs but they have nothing on my missus when sheās in full flow.
I donāt know how many times Iāve heard āIāve got Covid you knowā these last 9 daysā¦

I see what you did there Cobs
My cousin works on the HS2 project at Euston, previously heās worked on M27/M271 Junction improvements and the Newbury bypass.
The stories he can tell about the protestors is quite funny and, also, quite scary.
This is one of the protestors tents
Just made reservations for Lady Slowlaneās and my Covid Vaccine inoculations on Thursday 4th.
Weāve taken the DeLuxe package at Oakley Road that includes Thai massage and Birch twig flagellation.
Iām sure thereāll be a happy ending
Ooooā¦ahhhhhā¦opps.
"Vaccine nationalism" risks causing a "protracted recovery", the head of the world health body warns.
Is that fair?
We all care about our families more than we care about any other human beings. We all care about our local area more than we care about other areas.
It shouldnāt be a surprise, even in normal times, that citizens of a country will prioritise their own country. The far right exploit this sentiment cynically and ruthlessly, but that doesnāt make it a far right position.
In this circumstance, it is even more understandable. More people vaccinated here theoretically puts less people at risk.
Most English people donāt give a fuck about being English. At the same time, most English people have a vested tangible interest in compatriots getting vaccinated.
At the same time, most English people have a vested tangible interest in compatriots getting vaccinated.
We do indeed.
So roll up your fucking sleeve.
I also think that the vast majority of Brits donāt travel abroad so are less concerned about possibly getting infected abroad.
To be honest Iām more concerned about the kids getting it at schoolsā¦
Look, Iām 45 and there are plenty of people who need it before me. I will not dodge it when the time comes.
As it has always been
A messmate before a shipmate,
A shipmate before a stranger,
A stranger before a dog,
and a dog before a soldier
Excitement here today - got a letter from the NHS inviting me to log in to arrange my vaccination,.
Excitement ended, when the website provided a selection of vaccination centres, the nearest being 20 miles away.
Donāt want to travel - unnecessary journey, plus me at over 70 potentially standing in the cold and rain for possibly several hours doesnāt appeal.
Advice is not to travel outside of your local area; a 40 mile round trip to a strange place really doesnāt tick the boxes.
An option in the letter is to wait until my GP calls me in, which is what I will do, whilst trying the NHS site periodically to see if I can get somewhere close by.
What really pisses me off is that I know there is a vaccination centre within 10 minutes walk of my house, a big clinic behind Millbrook Tesco doing vaccinations, and of course Southampton General, a major hub - the latter 2 are a 10 minute drive!
Something wrong with the organisation here - I suspect I will be part of that statistic ā10 million people have been offered a vaccination by mid Februaryā as our undertakingā
A report on the plight of international students.
Theyāve got no access to any sort of government help. There is a food bank exclusively serving them because the demand is so high.
Terrible situation for all of them, but one of the things that is striking about the report is how many international students were living in a single house. COVID just ripped through them. Might explain some of the numbers in our larger cities.
