My partner has been on a bit of a health kick since August time I think. He has lost a stone and a half. I’ve not completely signed up for it but obviously is helping. Also all the walking I did for a lot of the summer. I’d walk 45 mins to meet a friend, then walk an hour with them and then 45 mins back again. We try and do a minimum of 20 mins walk a day.
We started lock down 1 with lots of beers, crisps, ice cream and a few more deliveries. It got a bit too much so we cut it all.

This country has been a shit-hole full of uncaring, selfish and stupid mother fuckers for a long time. It turns out we just needed Brexit and COVID to recognise it.
Imagine if we went to war now. Its be the most pathetic show of selfishness and division a country will have ever seen.
One of the biggest issues with Brexit is that so many of us were proud to be European, but ashamed to be British.
The likelihood is the majority of attacks in hospitals were against foreigners working in the NHS - that’s my guess anyway.

I’ve just discovered a covid bonus! This morning there was a letter in the post from Jehovah’s Witnesses! I don’t have to scream “fuck off!” on my doorstep any more as they are no longer doing the rounds. Binning the letter seems much more civilised.

This track and trace system seems to work. Since the 3 +ve results Mrs BTripz has had 3 phone calls to give contact information, for her and for the girls (why they couldn’t do it in 1 call though?)
Since then I’ve had 3 lots of 3 texts telling me to self isolate and giving advice and help.
I fucking hate this government. Boris on the news last night saying that the new variant was the reason the NHS was getting to capacity.
No you fucking mug. Your government whittling the essential funding down and us having no capacity is the fucking reason.
Besides, the NHS is not close to bursting. It’s burst. If you brought everyone in that needed treatment right now the whole thing would be fucked.
Instead, people are missing treatment and diagnoses so they’re fucked instead.

After the first wave, during which SGH performed amazingly, they asked for funding to increase ICU capacity to 90+ beds to cope with Covid. Gov said no. Their are now 90+ ICU beds for Covid (cobbled together by cancelling other procedures and commandeering staff/space). This Gov is all about firefighting and PR and has no strategy or planning. Fucking useless.

They were never going to work. Beds are useless without the ICU staff to man them. They were always just a PR exercise.

Plenty of people got shouted down (me included) back at the start for asking where the staff to man the “Nightingale hospitals were ever going to come from. It’s one occasion where it’s not nice to be right.

Fucking useless is right. Although I suspect they do have a strategy and sadly it’s going to plan. They have been running the NHS down for years now, and will carry on doing it for as long as they can get away with it. Profitable parts being hived off to, mainly, US companies has been going on for ages. They are well on their way already. Culminating, again if they can get away with it, in a pronouncement that the NHS is no longer fit for purpose, but hey, luckily we have some white knights across the pond who will ride to our rescue. They are so transparent, they don’t even make any attempt at hiding it anymore, they are laughing at us. So they probably will get away with it.
