:covid_19: 😷 šŸ„ Corona Virus the thread for all your fears ā“

And yet we were told kids could go to school, uni students could travel up and down the country, people could go to work, shops and pubs were open. Mixed messaging much?

If people are cunts, or people are thick, or people are selfish, the need for clear messaging and strict controls increases.

(Not aimed at GB by the way, but to respond to the mixed message comment’

Uhm… whilst there is always a need for consistent and clear messaging… you must admit that you have to be extremely dumb not to know by now that the moment you get into a crowd, you risk infection or you risk spreading it… it is that simple.

The lack of Government clarity and the the shot show they are running is sadly just a convenient excuse for those that are simply too selfish to make choices that affect anyone but themselves… it is just selfishness.

Sadly most of these folks won’t learn unless they infect Mum or Dad or Gran… but even then I suspect they would probably blame the ā€˜lack of a clear message’ Despite knowing full well the risk they were taking…

It’s easy to try and justify it…
ā€˜ it could be Gran’s last Christmas’ … etc well what about folks you might infect on your travels or even risking being infected?

We will all have a last Christmas… some way to soon, but it may well be the last for many more this year than necessary simply because some folks don’t give a shit

You seem to think I’m defending the Government. I’m not. They’ve fucked this up massively, at every point. But when you’ve got an incompetent Government the people need to take up the slack, rather than just saying ā€œwell, they fucked it up so I don’t careā€. Selfish, feckless cunts.

There was a women on the BBC news site yesterday. Alongside her name, and photo, were quotes about how upset she was that the rules now say she cant travel to see her family in a lower tier area.

She said she has been scouring the Web to see what the police may be doing to stop people, and is trying to find out what the penalty is for ignoring the rules.

9 months on, 1.8m dead and rising. Thousands with long term damage.

What’s the penalty?! Killing your family you selfish, ignorant, utter fucking moron.

Nonsense. There’s one ready made.

ā€œI don’t believe the governmentā€.

Since when wasn’t that enough?

I may have offended some people on a call today

I might have given it the Londoners legging it to the regions to infect the rest of us line and after an uncomfortable silence I started to notice that several people were not in their usual rooms and looking sheepish

Awkward

Someone must have forgotten to mention that to all the public transport services offering travel out of those Tier 3 areas then.

I agree - but even though a horse or two may have already bolted, you are still going to shut the stable door if there are some still left in there

Your Christmas is getting quieter and quieter, isn’t it. :+1::+1::smile:

If you’re attacking the public you’re defending the government.

From the outset, they’ve attempted to blame the public’s own sickness on itself.

Back in September, they were inviting us all to manage our risk. Now they say that is impossible.

The only good thing about lockdown has been watching all the closet authoritarians and grasses out themselves.

I am beginning to nurture this little green shoot

Anyway it is all moot. Southampton will be Tier 4 before the week is done. I have just heard that half of my employees and their families from Portsmouth came Christmas shopping in Southampton on Sunday.

But that is the governments fault probably

Even in the middle of the south china sea where every body is confirmed negative before coming offshore we all wear masks in public aces or any meetings taking place it is now normal no exceptions people are made aware if they do not abide the rules.
Its there safety as well as mine as far as i am concerned.

The tier system is a farce. The sooner the Government admits that the better.

Ah, so insular as always.
Like only UK has Covidiots or restrictions
At least you havent had an idiot with clear symptoms getting on a 5 hour flight & dying, like the United Flight guy in the US.

It is shit everywhere

Why and what would you have instead

It’s over complicated. As we see from floods of people leaving London, people will move between areas in different tiers. The criteria has been decided in an opaque manner. Explain the logic and people might buy into it. There is also no evidence that the tiered approach is successful in combatting the spread of the virus. For me we would have been better locking down earlier, wider and harder. Should have shut schools, colleges and unis earlier. Should have used the summer to prepare for the winter.
