Was that the briefing by the ā€œexpertsā€?

Best summarised as:-

  • It’s going to get really bad if we don’t do anything about this.
  • We’re not really doing anything about this.
  • Get back to work plebs

A conversation today

Them: Sorry i can come in today, I have a temperature
Me: Ok get a Covid test
Them: I dont believe in all that, I will be fine in a day or so - I’ll come in then
Me: No, you bloody won’t. You are persona non gratis for 14 days. If you want to come in sooner show me a negative test
Them: I’m not getting a test
Me: Enjoy your unpaid leave
Them: I ''ll get a test asap

And so the bullshit from Johnson, Hancock and the rest of them goes on and on. It’s all meaningless without a working test and trace system, this has been known for months. Despite throwing billions at it the system in this country is a complete shambles. The only success is the world beating diversion of public money into the pockets of Government donors, friends and supporters. I’ve just read a letter in the Guardian from a medical professional at a large teaching hospital in Southern England that last week stopped the testing of Asymptomatic staff. Because there isn’t enough capacity in the labs… So where have these billions gone?
For weeks now they have been sending tests to labs in Germany and Italy.
Taking back control eh? What irony!
Panorama at 7 pm tonight will tell you all you need to know about the gangsters who are now running the show.

Yeah, it’s all fun and games when there are tests available.

At my mate’s work, bloke phones up. Says his daughter has been sent home from school.

He was told he couldn’t self-isolate unless his daughter had a positive tests.

At a time when you can’t get tests. He can’t afford to take the unpaid leave.

Here we go again …

What’s that on the Nandos menu?

In government terms, probably ā€œHotā€

For the General public, probably ā€œPlain-ishā€

Some of the billions went to PPE contracts who have never made anything remotely similar to PPE. In fact one such contractor was a pest control business and another was a manufacturer of confectionery.

One of the largest contracts (£253m, total budget of Public Health England is £300m) went to Ayanda Capital, a private equity firm that deals with family wealth and how to keep it. This company is based in Mauritius (a tax haven) and was contracted to produce an undisclosed number of face masks. The contract was not put out to tender and was awarded without the usual scrutiny. Currently in legal proceedings regarding a Times article about the face masks they produced not meeting required standards.

Andrew Mills is a senior advisor to Ayanda Capital (appointed in March this year) and is also an advisor to the Board of Trade which is chaired by International Trade Secretary Liz Truss.

I’m sure it’s legit and above board. Or, this will blow up as a massive scandal in 5 years time.

Some of the dubious* companies who were awarded PPE contracts:

*Not all will be dubious. Some will be legit and have done a remarkable job in turning round PPE which has helped to protect the front-line workers.
