“People are just doing what they want, they’re fed up with the changes all the time,” one person told me. “I don’t know anyone who’s given it the slightest bit of notice,” said another. The government is asking people to sacrifice things that they really care about while actively encouraging them to do things they don’t really care about. It is doing so in a cavalier and disrespectful way that doesn’t even try to empathise with how difficult these sacrifices might be. Meanwhile, its defence of Dominic Cummings is etched in people’s memories: breaking the rules for the sake of your family is not only fine, it’s what any good person would do. It doesn’t take a PhD in psychology to work out that this is not a winning combination.

Sums it up really

I’ve, stupidly, been reading a few threads on twitter and the amount of people on there that say that, in the event of another national lockdown, they’ll do what the hell they like anyway worries me

I know the conspiracy theorists say this is all a worldwide government conspiracy to “reset the world” and have us all controlled by one big central government but, personally, I think there are too many disparate ideologies in the world Governments for that to occur.

Yes the figures (deaths and infection rates) don’t seem massive but is the because of the lockdowns or is it because all the people that were going to get it have got it and died from it? If we come out of lockdown and back to normal will it all go through the roof again.

Our ineffective and meandering Government does not help.

Isn’t your point predicated on power being held by the world’s governments?

Look not to the leader that can be voted out every five years. Look at the people who can’t, who persist. That’s basically elites vs plebs.

Interesting to see the priorities of this shit show of a government. They really are mocking us.
The Cabinet Office’s special Covid-19 Operations ministerial committee - chaired by Michael Gove, scheduled a meeting on Saturday, with one agenda item titled: “Exemption: Hunting and shooting.”
Grouse shooting and hunting are now exempt from Johnson’s ‘rule of six’.
Unbelievable that there are still people in this country who continue to support the lying, immoral criminal piece of shit masquerading as Prime Minister.

Jeez, wasn’t that what the East German Stasi encouraged people to do?

I, personally, think we still don’t know enough about the virus to be able to make any (fullly) informed decisions

Equally, because it has been “politicised” facts are swamped by opinions.
And algorithms determine what “knowledge” people see on their feeds.
The wife of a friend is close to being blocked by me on SM as she simply boards everyone with “you must watch this” shit.

I read, I take action to protect me & the family, we know how many in the village have been taken Ill, and if a mask reduces risk by 5% I will take that 5%.
It is a clusterfvck each country and then cities & villages hold their own influences opinions.

Absolutely. We are definitely in for the long haul when it comes to working out which approach is the best one for us. I suspect a lot will depend on the physical condition of each country’s population, Sweden’s healthcare system put them in an ideal position to attempt the approach that they have. That doesn’t mean it would work here.

It’s a good point @scotty but it also comes down to how good people in various countries are at following the rules. At the start of lockdown there was an article about “how come Sweden isn’t in full lock down but C19 is under control”
the answer was “the Government told us to wear masks, keep away from each other and wash our hands and we do”.

In the UK, we have a society which is hell bent on finding ways round the rules rather than using a bit of common sense. People are the problem.
