:covid_19: đŸ˜· đŸ„ Corona Virus the thread for all your fears ❓

Will be interesting to see what the reaction to this is

Junior enough to be discounted?

But cant you see, just because there are some with alternative reasons for getting rid of the dick, does not mean he should not walk this this
he has completely undermined the Governments own policy, and this will lead to others doing the same.

I’m not sure I buy that’s the reason many want him gone BUT if it’s true then you have to ask
So what? All you’ve done is list a long line of people from various backgrounds who want an unelected advisor (with vast power) dismissed. If what you say is true, he’s untied diverse groups.

or even united diverse groups

All of this is (largely) true.

It doesn’t change the fact that he broke the lockdown rules.

It’s that simple. That, on its own, is a resigning issue.

Others did this and resigned. He should do the same. He’s not an elected official that might have to consider constituents or the ‘constitution’. He’s an adviser and should go.

The ‘young children exemption’ is simple misdirection to get us debating the rights and wrongs and an attempt to make us ignore the fact that he simply broke the rules.

For the record, the spirit of the young children exemption was to acknowledge, for worried parents, that they might not be able to keep 2m away from young children during their lockdown.

That’s why it stresses that (my words) you shouldn’t worry coming into close contact with your child during isolation as they are less affected by the disease.

The spirit of that exception was not to give tacit approve a 4 1/2 hour drive risking death to any first responder that might have to attend and revive you should you have crashed en route.

The spirit was not to give tacit approval to take your child and any diseases you may have brought 250 miles from London to a local hospital - via ambulance - exposing staff and other patients in the process.

The spirit was not to give tacit approval for you, unlike the rest of the population, to visit, see and communicate with your close family.

He broke the rules.

The rules are being re-interpreted before our very eyes.

We’re being taken for mugs and are victims of gaslighting on a massive scale.

They are laughing behind our backs. If we let this go, we will pay heavily through the already low quality of our political debate.

Yeah I can see it - which is why if he had killed it early doors, it would have been less damaging.

He should probably go now for allowing the story to get such traction, but he won’t.

Quite simply the journos should have asked, “Given that there were many parents finding themselves in the same situation and maybe more to come, would you recommend they take the same action as you?”

This guy doesn’t seem to have had an agenda against Cummings, but he gets it right.

While the intentions may have been well meaning, the reaction to the news shows that Mr Cummings interpretation of the government advice was not shared by the vast majority of people who have done as the government asked.

I have constituents who didn’t get to say goodbye to loved ones; families who could not mourn together; people who didn’t visit sick relatives because the followed the guidance of the government. I cannot in good faith tell them they were all wrong and one senior advisor to the government was right.

BREAKING NEWS! STATEMENT BY DOMINIC CUMMINGS: As my wife was slightly ill and I was a bit less ill, and having a young child, we were worried that at some point in the future we might both become very ill at the same time. Given that the slightest hint of man flu renders me completely incapable of caring for my child or wife and although i am filthy rich, live in London which has huge government funded support networks and have the ear of many equally rich and influential people, I was understandably worried that we would be left completely isolated in the middle of the capital city and might be left without food or childcare. I therefore made the decision not to ‘STAY AT HOME, PROTECT THE NHS AND SAVE LIVES” and to drive 270 miles to an isolated cottage near my parents and sister that is in no way a second home but simply a cottage where, in the past, we have occasionally chosen to isolate during holiday periods. Although I was well enough to drive 270 miles without a break i was, of course, potentially too ill to care for my wife and child or to summons any help from anywhere in the middle of a densely packed city like London. Whilst in the isolated cottage, my family left food on our doorstep, a service which I genuinely believed to be completely unavailable in London. I did go to Barnard Castle although I didn’t intend to. My eyesight had been affected by COVID 19 and so to safeguard my child I thought it reasonable to test my eyesight by driving to what turned out to be a famous landmark and beauty spot on a day that just happened to be my wife’s birthday. I took my wife and child as I thought that if they were alive at the end of the journey it would be excellent proof of the health of my eyesight. We did stop near a river on our way back. We only intended to get out of the car for a second to stretch our legs but the river managed to wind itself between us and our car and it took us a good fifteen minutes to find our way back. I did not at anytime consult Boris Johnson or inform him of my decision before I left London. I was far too busy making very important decisions and it is the custom never to bother the Prime Minister with anything remotely important as it has been our experience that if he has to deal with anything more taxing than deciding what to have for breakfast, it renders him completely unable to string two words together, even though everything is written down for him in big writing. Which is why the country is now run entirely by unaccountable aides. Finally, I do not apologise. My actions throughout were entirely reasonable and if you consult regulation 32(e) paragraph viii of the Covid19 legislation, which states that the rich and powerful can do whatever the fuck they want, you will find that they were also entirely legal. #DominicCummings

Terminological inexactitudes

The Cummings

The Prime Minister

Gove

The exercise restriction was loosened in mid-May, wasn’t it? We’re talking about mid-April.

There were reports on Sky News that Vallance and Whitty were due to do the press conference with Johnson but they were seen leaving 10 Downing St about 40 minutes before it started. Other sources are saying that they refused to say whatever Johnson wanted them to say and a late decision was made for them not to be put up for questions.Hopefully the media will follow this up, if true it has serious implications regarding the ‘following the science’ mantra/bullshit we have been putting up with for the past three months. Perhaps these two have finally grown a pair and will now start to act like ‘independent advisors’.

Another bloke that hasn’t met Cummings so seemingly has no axe to grind, but is calling for his head.

He weighs up the arguments well - for me.

Wouldn’t it be great if journalists talked to each other before the daily press conferences and worked out a way of not repeating questions!

Or the power of each repeating the same single question, verbatim until it was answered.

Because here, when asked if he’d ever driven 60 miles to test his eyes, he seemingly starts to suggest that he has, but then abandons the idea.

Could the simple answer to all of this be that Dominic Cummings is just a colossal wanker? I have always been led to believe that this can have detrimental effects on the eyesight.

You can’t really disagree. Boris is a man of so few political convictions that he needs someone else to tell him what they are.

Same thing with Theresa May. She needed Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill for her political acumen, once she actually realised we needed a vision.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we had a Prime Minister who knew something about people? You’d figure it was important.
