:covid_19: 😷 🏥 Corona Virus the thread for all your fears ❓

Very good idea, this could catch on. That’s Tuesday and Thursday taken care of, on Wednesday everyone who voted Tory at the last election could go out onto their doorstep and shout, ‘SORRY’.

The Government has been doing quarantine & tests for international arrivals.
Is worth a wtf?
But announced it on 29th February & implemented on 30th…

Didn’t catch this when it was on.

Favourite line? Matt Hancock being described as “your sister’s first boyfriend with a car”

Seems that we’re not the only country that have failed our elderly (and I’m not gloating or point scoring or whatever)

Tbh, that is pretty much the norm not the exception
Go back 5/6 weeks posts on here of care homesin France/Spain where everyone was dead/staff had fled etc.
Need to be specific in attacking Gov on this one. DOD they issue a blanket no over 65s to hospital rather than just saying Cate homes nightmare

That’s a hell of a right hook :+1::+1::grin:

Something I have knocked up for RTW proposal - I was surprised how low it was for Southampton

The mutant gene is strong so Covid doesn’t stand a fucking chance…

I might suggest though that this is more government spin. In these situations when it’s fucked up it seems it’s explanation is to push stories (I humbly suggest) that simply say, look it’s. No different to country X that also fucked up, it’s not our fault… blah blah blah…

When they should be asking, how come we fucked up when countries XY and Z did not?

Just because other countries had the same issue, does not mean we could not have prevented it had our actions been more rapid and comprehensive

Care homes by their very nature were always going to be a fertile ground for this virus… it was obvious the moment the Chinese data suggested it was most grim for those over 70. We should have targeted these as a priority with the highest standards instead of worrying about ventilators… prevention etc being much more effective than trying to cure the oldest and weakest infected… which data suggested was extremely difficult

It is much more important to continue to compare our response and the impact of it to the BEST countries, not the worst, if we are to learn anything ahead of the next outbreak…

Not only that but our own pandemic preparedness exercise (Cygnus in 2016) apparently identified care homes as a particular problem area and made recommendations that were not followed through.
