Doesn’t the oil price drop really fuck the dollar? It’s the world’s reserve currency on the basis that oil is bough in dollars.

Dollar a barrel? Don’t need to buy as many dollars.

Interesting piece of trivia about that. Can’t recall exactly where I read it, probably Private Eye, but at the time of the Iraq invasion the Iraqis were about to start trading their oil in euros. I think they would have been the first major oil producing country to do that, and the story went that the yanks would not stomach the dollar losing it’s global monopoly on the oil trade. Hence all the bollocks about wmd, which we all know now was nothing more than smoke, bluster and mirrors.

A little OT, but it’s not even a new trick. This has been posted on Sotonians before, but is excellent.

And of course Ghaddafi was setting up an African dinar to be used for oil trading instead of the dollar. So he had to go as well.

Your oil prices need revising the -ve prices are for oil that is already in storage out of the ground.
Brent crude is still trading at about $32 a barrel and WTI at $26 these are the prices you need to watch.
Our little Malaysian crude is selling still at a $2 dollar on top of the Brent price.

I was cycling down the Castleman trailway yesterday (old railway line, pre-Beeching) when a deer walked in front of me

Apparently we’ve got 25 million hospital gowns on order from China.

So that’s alright then.

And not like, a fucking big security or health risk.

Potential dynamite. Cummings is clearly back running the show.

Perhaps they just played the rice grain and chess board game until they felt they had enough sock puppers.

256 would be too much, surely?

Oddly enough, there are British folk that want to pick fruit. Not really working out for them.

Let’s get poverty labour in instead, you know, the sort that’ll be happy living in an enclosed space like a caravan with two or three other people.

Because that’s social distancing.

No doubt that will be true for some business - what’s the phrase “never waste a good storm”

I think there are going to be redundancies all over the place regardless of how much money is put in

Assuming we are all back to normal when the furlough period is done on the 3oth June, I cannot for one minute imagine that demand for a lot of company’s services that could support pre covid staffing levels is going to be there for several months after that.
