Agreed, now she isn’t close to any sort of office I wish her well.

think the Labour party thread is missing some of the above?

Anyhow. I was wondering, If I get ill I can now have a test (the benefits of key working eh?) but I only see drive in ones and I don’t drive and my partner has pretty much he said he will not be going anywhere near me if he can help it (Que jokes about that). So is there another option I’ve missed? In the early stages they were sending an ambulance out to do swabs.

Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

I’d been hearing stuff like this for a while. French are taking it seriously enough.

Cant believe we & Hollywood got The Zombie Apocalypse so wrong.
There we were expecting them to chase us down the street & eat us.
Instead they simply took over National Governments
#neversawthatplottwistcoming

This really does need an ORLY gif.

Not as much as it needs an ALREADY.

I suspect it has more to do with the amount of tar in their lungs or such like

Or the fact that they already had a persistent cough and didn’t notice

To be fair, David Hockney did include the Science when he came up with this.
Virus attaches to ACE2 Receptors in healthy lungs.
Smoking damages those Receptors.
The debate & research maybe whether it is Nicotine in the blood that affects them or the shit I breath in.
Interesting line of enquiry among many

One for @Goatboy

I’m finding it very hard to disagree with anything this man says.

I’m not sure if he’s the President the US deserves but he is the President the US needs.

I like his honesty and down to earth pragmatism… there seems to be a refreshing lack of political bullshit in his POV. He does not seem to be more worried about his position than the people he has responsibility for… contrast that with Trump, Boris etc…

Piece on the finances involved…

Interesting enough read, but what struck me were the final paragraphs;

“The temporary and immediate nature of the unprecedented support announced for people and businesses means the government expects that a significantly higher proportion of total gilt sales in 2020-21 will take place in the first four months of the financial year, in order to meet the immediate financing needs resulting from Covid-19,” the Treasury said.

"This higher volume of issuance is not expected to be required across the remainder of the financial year."

So, they either aren’t expecting the lockdown to last long, or the financial support on offer is strictly time limited.
