Bye bye Mauricio

If Hughes is announced as our next manager I will burn @so5-4bw 's season ticket .

You can also add Pardew and NA to that list as well though can’t you?

I am not sure I would gamble our future on some guy who has done well moving up the leagues in Sweden.

Big Kat has already done that by selling out to Gao.

Has anyone copywritten the term Chairman Gao? If not I am having that. Bear has Big Kat (you owe him £1 btw Baz for using that) but I have Chairman Gao. As saints fall back through the leagues, I will be making millions!

Getting rid of Pellegrino was the furthest thing from a gamble I can think of. The only element that is a gamble is the length of time it took to do it.

At least Hughes appears to give a shit and would probably kick off if the ref and his assistant missed a blatant handball/last minute equaliser when you’ve not won a game since the Cold War.

This is like role reversal. Barry has changed from "We’re shit let’s employ old useless shit(not sure why you moan about Reed), to let’s take a risk.

Why not Potter next season? Anyone think Hughes is going to be better? Potter has also done a bit more than moving up from the 4th division in Sweden to the 1st. I’ve read a bit from Swedish media/fans and they all rave about him whichever team they support(the club is hated, but not him). There’s also a good chance they are about to become back to back Cup winners and he done rather well in the europa league.

Do we really have much to lose? Best Hughes offers is dull, lower half of the pl pergatory. We need new ideas and Hughes has been out of them for a long time.

I think it’s a risk we’d be idiots not to take, given the limited options we appear to have. Hughes being in charge next season scares the shit out of me.

Just to be an irritating swine… last time I checked 9th was in the top half!

Appointing him now in this context, I totally understand. But yes you’re right, the plastic sheets would be out nice and early if this was a decision taken in the summer. We do need someone with a touch more personality than the last couple we have endured. Lots of players disliked Koeman but they undoubtedly respected him.

I just feel going for Hughes is such a reach, why didn’t they do this ages ago? It reeks of desperation and ā€œhe hasn’t been relegatedā€ shit, he is unispiring as opposed to a positive move, this is being done too late and Hughes knows he is only there as a known failure not as a unknown progressive, its thoroughly depressing and the fact the club still isn’t saying anything reeks of poison within the club.

Barry moans about Puel, Pelligrino and now Hughes. Puel gets sacked, still not happy. Pellegrino gets sacked. Still not happy. It’s almost as if nothing will cheer the miserable sod up apart from hearing from the Chinese.

I said lower half because i believe Hughes is in decline as a manager @simon-says

I’ll happily take being proven wrong for the rest of this season, but don’t want him here next. Doing the deal for next season with Potter now, would be my choice.

All I want is honesty from the club, their ambitions, their goals, and their reasons.

Not to much to ask for if we’re customers is it?

If Gao went on Skysports News to personally announce the signing of Bert Van Marwijk on a 5-year contract with a promise to invest £500 million of his own cash into the playing squad and another £500 million in regenerating Southampton by building a tourist attraction and superclub, plus sacking Reed and Krueger and replacing them with world leaders in business, Baz would still complain that the pies were luke warm and he has to queue for a wee.

Your are right Barry. We should reinstate Pellegrino immediately!

Of course we are fucking desperate - have you seen the league table?

As for Hughes, there is not exactly a long line of managers who would:

a) come to us this late in the season

b) are available now

c) up for the shit fest the last 8 games will no doubt be

So yes, he is a twat,. Yes he is uninspiring. Yes he is probably not the long term choice. However…

Would you rather we took a punt on another progressive young manager at this stage? Really?

I fucking hate the idea of that tosser, but i will just about swallow it if he salvages something from this season

If he wins the cup and keeps us up we could be stuck with him for three years!

Then he will be one of our most successfull manager of all time - he would probably get the keys to the city and a deformed statue as well

If he did that I’d happily accept him into the fold.
