:gov: Britain's Next Prime Minister

There is a common thread in all the leadership contests.

I do wonder whether this might be the start of Boris’ race unraveling. I don’t think he’ll lose if he gets to the vote. Will he get to the vote?

I’ve seen a few people are saying “oh couples argue, it is normal” etc. That the neighbours shouldn’t have recorded it etc.

So in my job I see a lot of police reports about domestic abuse. Mainly because concerned neighbours call, then it may be one of the partners, sadly sometimes the children. Some people record to evidence it happened. If it was going to court it may be useful and could potentially save someone.
Smashing stuff and having conversations loud enough your neighbours hear isn’t “normal” and is not healthy to manage your relationship.

I have a lot of parents tell me everyone argues but although I’ve had some disagreements with my partner we’ve not had a massive row and we’ve not smashed things. So not not everyone does.

Most times this would unravel someone’s leadership but in a Trump world I’m worried it won’t.

I see some of Boris’ defenders are already casting Carrie Symonds as a nut job.

There is a recording out there, apparently. Mr Johnson may well end up taking an injunction out to prevent its release.

The most disturbing element of this story is that the police denied visiting - and only backtracked when proof was produced.
With Angry McFisty throttling a woman in evening dress but claiming to be a plucky hero who tackled a possible terrorist, and his future boss, a devious liar who is incapable of negotiating with his own missus let alone other countries, what fucked-up world are we living in?
A fucking nasty one where the members love him and will force him upon the rest of us.
I want my country back - the nicer one that didn’t go out of its way to treat people quite so badly.
Happy Windrush Day. :worried:

The recording should hopefully provide some clarity. I will not be surprised if Hunt wins due to Boris quitting the race. You’d think it impossible; all he had to do was sit tight. Plenty more to come, I suspect.

Well everyone wanted to know how Boris was going to beat Boris - throttling the missus was probably not on many people’s betting slip

Far be it for me to defend Boris, but that’s the second time I’ve seen the throttle thing.

Is there a source for that, or us that an interpretation of the dialogue from the row?

I’d be interested to know what she found on his laptop that got him all flustered.

Nah - just me adding some embellishments

There does need to be some sense between a row and domestics violence - not that it will stop the press or a few of the more simple MPs trying to make political capital

Gove porn.

I’d agree, but we’re not here by accident. When we’ve got a government that is happy to draw giant and quite dangerous evidence free inferences and push them as the truth, it’s not really a surprise that people jump to conclusions on incidents like this.

I am no fan of Boris, but as we’ve seen with Trump, if the accusations don’t land you’re just doing his campaigning for him.

Better to wait for the evidence.

His girlfiend…she’s not Jewish is she by any chance?

Girlfiend could be the Ayatollahs new nickname

Ah that old one. It is the woman’s fault. Suppose it has been working for centuries.

No no no, silly Phil, Boris has put this to bed saying people don’t want to know about this sort of thing, and who are we to argue with someone who knows the mind of every person in the country so that’s the end of it :man_shrugging:
