I did Contract Law at University, and even my hackneyed legal experience gives them absolutely no chance - however it would be interesting to see how the UK contract was worded.
Will repeat long term customer base for portfolio will pay a roll in how AZ decide to manage this…
Very likely true and it does put AZ in a bad place going forward.
Not if we don’t allow export of vaccines from the UK. Means the EU will just have to wait until the other plants on the continent reopen.
Theyll have to suck it up.
Yep… To be honest, not through their own fault either. This is why this whole jingoistic UK vs EU is quite pathetic… The vaccines need to go to teh most vulnerable end of. If we want normalcy back including travel holidays etc, we wont get that if teh vulnerable in Europe are not vaccinated and we are but can still carry it… IT MUCH better if the old and vulnerable are protected so that even if we are asymptomatic carriers we can travel etc as the vulnerable are protected… I just dont get why we seem obsessed with vaccinating all in UK… then what? We gloat in our isolation?
We don’t see another 100000 deaths?
Nah he wants to share them around, very EU like…
I don’t want to go to Europe this year but if the French can pop a load of vaccine over to Tahiti I would be more than on board.
nope, because the vulnerable are protected… we dont use vaccine on 40 somethings when there are 75+s in EU unprotected, meaning they quite rightly wont let us in… Viruses dont give a fuck about borders… if we want to get back to out former lives we cant just protect our olds and fuck everyone else… simply wont work
You kind of make my point
This virus doesn’t give a fuck if you’re 50 or 70.
It’s up to the EU to protect their citizens. That’s their duty. They’ve dropped a bollock by dithering. That’s about it.
We have the highest death rate and the biggest financial mess in Europe. Let the EU worry about their vaccination programme and hope that our clusterfuck of a Government gets at least one thing right.
No Barry you igniramous, its to our benefit if teh olds are vaccinated first… we then have les restrictions sooner, whilst the rest of us are vaccinated… this is common sense based on the epidemiology of this virus, and has fuck all to do with politics…
Get everyone here who needs it done and then ship it out to the World, there we go all fair.
I though we were brilliant because we scored a contract early?
Goaty, The reality is that these pandemics can not be solved unilaterally, unless we want to be a North Korea clone and keep our borders closed… or more like our people will be restricted in where and when we can go… whilst others wait to protect their vulnerable.
The reality is that if the dont think about this on a global scale we wont get out freedoms back…
To Barry, just so you can shut teh fuck up spouting trolling bollocks about shit you know fuck all about or making assumptions about me and my views, my wife had acute lymphoblastic leukaemia aged 21, a Bone marrow transplant a year later… and last year diagnosed with breast cancer and treatment throughout this year so she is on an accelerated list as she should be. If she is protected and other like her are, then the rest of us less vulnerable should be wiling to be a little lower in the queue if it means I can go see old relatives abroad or take her on holiday and have a fucking life.
When you consider the pelters dished out on here to our government for their incompetent handling of the crisis, one might expect that getting the only population the UK government is directly responsible for properly vaccinated as quickly as humanly possible would be a welcome move.
On the other hand, if the government had taken the view that other countries’ citizens were more important and diverted supplies there, it might be that the same critics would be just as critical of that approach.
Then why is this not a global rollout being organised at a macro level by the WHO?
Country A has 20m people over 55. 40 million doses from x Pharma.
Country B has 3m people over 55. 6 million doses from x pharma.
Etc, etc.
As soon as this was being organised at a country level, this was going to happen.
As you know I am a EU supporter. This I cannot support them on.
It should be, but Governments and country are selfish… simple as
Yeah like everyone was gonna give the WHO Trillions to spend on vaccines…
Although that’s how it should be done
So, what the EU want to happen is actually unrealistic, and not how it works.
I mean, fuck, they only approved the vaccine today.
