:brexit: Brexit - Deal or no deal

Obviously we’re dependent on other trading arrangements, we always will be, but holding our noses and kowtowing to the US when absolutely necessary isn’t the same as voluntarily ceding practically all political independence to an entity which, from what I’ve seen of it at this stage of it’s gestation, I really don’t want us to be any part of.

Most of the issues regarding the trading of goods are going to be resolved if this free ports idea gets off the ground.

That’s not true. Free ports aren’t what you think.
It’s another dumb Singapore on Thames stupidity that’ll only serve a very small (corrupt)group.

I was referring to the tariff-free costs of raw materials.

What’s this article about millionaires abusing the system to lock up works of art got to do with the price of fish, and couldn’t that be avoided up front?

Sorry I thought you were talking about

Which is clearly not true. All goods leaving or consumed in free areas are liable to usual tariffs. Apart from a limited amount of tariff inversion there is no benefit to anyone but money launderers.

I’m sorry you didn’t understand what the article was saying, but i suppose that’s too be expected if you’ve fallen for Pfeffel’s bollocks and are a defender of low tax, low regulations and fuck the worker.
When did you jump over the fence?

Here is that massive city NYs bustling Freeport

And inside

Have you worked out how much raw material comes through there yet?

That is far from the only application of free ports, much as you’ve sold it as such.

No tariffs are due on goods, particularly the raw materials that we’ve said we need so much to keep our industry. Here is a big criticism.

the UK Trade Policy Observatory, run by the University of Sussex and Chatham House think-tank, has questioned this figure, saying much of it would just be redistributing economic activity from elsewhere in the country.

Does that mean lock boxes will just be moved from Chipping Norton?

Show me some that are bustling hives of activity then.

This isn’t true. I mentioned tariff inversion already. Look it up, it varies and even if an intermediate good has no tariff the finished product will. Even consuming the raw material in the free port will incur tariffs.

The Sussex university report tries it’s hardest to be positive(who payed for that) but even they admit the general saving comes in at a massive 0.0375%. Wow we’re all saved and Chatham fucking house, you’re a bonfire of red tape Tory aren’t you.

Oh dear. Queen won’t be impressed.

Unanimous verdict too.

What? Does that mean Boris will have to stop his GE unlawful campaigning now and return to Westminster?

What happens next?

Boris resigns and wastes weeks on a new leadership battle - only a VONC can stop tories running down that clock

Boris proroguing again for a 5 day period for queen speech - would be legal

???

Bercow:
“I welcome the Supreme Court’s judgement that the prorogation of Parliament was unlawful. The judges have rejected the Government’s claim that closing down Parliament for five weeks was merely standard practice to allow for a new Queen’s Speech. In reaching their conclusion, they have vindicated the right and duty of Parliament to meet at this crucial time to scrutinise the executive and hold Ministers to account. As the embodiment of our Parliamentary democracy, the House of Commons must convene without delay. To this end, I will now consult the party leaders as a matter of urgency.”

I was enjoying not having to listen to that pompous twat - he is going to love being in the spotlight again

If Jezza wants to be a cnut he doesn’t push for the election to be called and that national unity shit happens.
When Boris was actually just starting to open a few cracks in the negotiations with EU.
Brian Rix couldn’t have written this stuff

:skull_and_crossbones:
Closes Twitter for the week
