Yellowhammer released:
Belfast court just sided with the Govt
2-1 to Boris so far, all to play for
As I’ve said on Twitter, I think this all rest on whether you think “base scenario” means “normal scenario”.
This is a contingency planning document. Base scenario merely means the contingencies we are planning against.
You could argue that the government was naughty to change the wording. Given how wilfully people have tried to confuse the term “base scenario” with this is what will actually fucking happen, dudes, some would actually argue that it’s wise.
I actually glad they have given some thought to it - makes a change
Would the Scots fit the criteria and would the Spanish allow it due to their internal divisions?
If the Scots went it alone the only way they could survive is by being Rep Ireland mark 2, do they want that? That certainly won’t benefit the people of Scotland.
It might mean they can win a game of footer every now and again though.
No they wouldn’t. They have lots of natural resources, some world renowned products and are leaders in some high tech fields.
They’d be fine(apart from English underhand behaviour) and can sell us the oil and water we’re so desperate for(huge tariffs obvs).
What natural resources? What renowned products? Leaders in what high tech fields?
Irn Bru
Short bread
Haggis
Bagpipe spares
Oil and water(yes water. You’ll find out in a couple of years).
Wiskey, food and certain high end natural materials.
Oil exploration and satellites.
Who is their biggest trading partner?
Oil? Reliant on barrel value and if Scotland achieved independence last time the crash in the value of oil would have bankrupted them, it was a Boris bus style bag of shite.
Whisky? It hasn’t made all the Scots wealthy has it?
Oil exploration? Who set up those fields?
Satelites? Who owns those companies?
For their survival they’d have to become a low tax nation for big business and have a higher rate for average Joe.
This will fall flat on its arse when the EU demands (and they will) tax harmonisation, looks at Ireland resistance to it. It’d bankrupt them in a week.
I’ll add they are perfectly entitled to ask for independence at any time and that vote should be supported.
Again, who is Scotland’s by a huge huge margin largest trading partner?
This is all meaningless bollocks(like a c&p from the mail)
I’ll give you an example(your very first line).
Now ask that about Brexit.
Silly game isn’t it.
You fucked yourself up there son, are they entitled to ask for independence?
Yeah, but are you saying the Scots are too much into opiates and deep-fried Mars bars to beat world-beating corporations?
Because it sounds like you are, pal.
Project fear?
It would probably save the UK money, they do love their smack.
They shoehorned the Greeks and Italians into the project despite their unbelievably dire economic histories, so I’ve little doubt they’d accomodate the jocks, if only to spite the English.
They’d have to do some serious showhorning as the Scots spend far far far more than they bring in, so much so the EU would have to break the rules to allow them to join.
I’m against a Union break up but totally support them to exercise their right to determine their future, huge mistake if you ask me BUT England and or the UK shouldn’t bend over backwards to make them stay either, their decision alone and it should be respected either way.
