:brexit: Brexit - Deal or no deal

It’s exactly the sort of things hard right Tories would do.

The vocal minority of Remainers in public, vocal majority of MPs and the Labour Party have enabled them.

Sad, isn’t it. Corbyn would never have allowed it. Just a shame he mightn’t ever have the choice.

There’s only one group that enabled them and it’s none of the above.
There was ample warning about all they intend, but for the last three years that group refused to discuss any of these possibilities and they are the people that will be to blame(also if Corbyn doesn’t get the chance).
“Played for fools”, “Giving America control” would have been more honest slogans. Why didn’t they use them?

Boris would never have got in had May stuck to her Lancaster House speech. When she failed to secure a majority in the 2017 General Election, it emboldened the Europhiles in her own ranks, who were getting succour from anti-democrats on the Internet.

People rightfully had an expectation that Brexit would be delivered. The only reason Boris is in power is because he has promised to deliver it.

If Brexit is not delivered why do we have politcians they are there to do the will of the people.
The people voted to leave
Why have we not left yet?

We’ve not left because until Boris got in, there was no serious political will to do so in Parliament. We can argue until the cows come home on why that might be the case, but boiled down, it’s because the MPs think they know better than the rest of the country.

As each of them is on at least £78k p.a and the recipient of generous expenses, I think they know fuck all about what’s good for the working poor.

Looks like Merkel is beginning to crack. Asks Johnson to provide alternative to the backstop.

France now seen as the blocking party.

Isn’t that what the EU have been saying all along?

Desperate stuff Pap.

Johnson and the zealots he represents, the ERG, Dominic Cummings, Steve Bannon and the rest of them have never had any intention of securing a deal, they have always wanted to crash out with a no deal hard Brexit.
The trick is to con the gullible into believing that they wanted a deal but a no deal will be someone else’s, ie, the EUs fault. Sadly that is proving to be as easy as taking candy from a baby.

Eh?

Remember that this was “impossible”.

Germans are going to enter recession if we place any sort of tit for tat tariff on their goods. The UK is economically equivalent to the smallest 19 EU countries.

She said it was possible if Johnson could offer an acceptable alternative to the backstop. The onus is on uk not eu. This has always been the eu position.

The stenographers just saying what they’re told to say, hence no checking. Why bother learning the truth when you’ll never be allowed to say/print it.

"Our media class is not listening to those outside its hermetically sealed bubble. Alleged Prime Minister Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson has just been done up like a kipper by Angela Merkel and, led by the BBC, they’re trumpeting a great victory in the retelling.

The real world may not be to the media class’ liking. But that is no reason not to report on it, and report honestly and accurately. Another less than ideal day for the Beeb".

All very Pravda(except their audience knew it was bullshit).

Yep. Johnson’s schtick has been it’s not us it’s eu. Merkel has just told him it’s up to him and he has 30 days. How this is being spun as a victory is hilarious.

That’s not my read of the situation.

The EU have come out several times and said there will be no renegotiation. The backstop is baked into that agreement, hence the backstop, until this Merkel meeting.

Think you’re relying on the bbc. What they are reporting is not what was said.

To see how things are being manipulated by both sides see the clip of Macron telling johnson that the table looks like a footstool and then lo! The photographers just happen to be ready.

Plenty of sources. It’s obviously just posturing, but it’s there all the same.

I’m beyond fucking caring, tbh.
