:brexit: Brexit - Deal or no deal

So what’s happening now?
Looks very much like self imposed Lingchi.
Crace appears to see what political commentators can’t, so probably best to do the British thing and joke about the madness.

"None of this had been her fault. The blame lay entirely with everyone who had made her prime minister.

Now she could go back home and do nothing again. Another walking holiday in Wales perhaps. Everyone could down tools till the end of October. At which point the shit would hit the fan all over again."

Ah, but she hasn’t got a lot of pretty, pretty boys that she calls friends. Either here or in Brussels.

Brutal. But true.

There was no need to ask her what she would be dressing up as for Halloween. She would be coming as herself. The living dead. If that didn’t terrify the EU into giving us another extension, nothing would.

She did run the Home Office. She also introduced the most Draconian internet snooping laws in any democracy. Dirt book, init.

Now thats how to leave Europe

Read an article yesterday and this bit stood out.

"The government of David Cameron said the 2016 referendum would be advisory, not binding anyone to anything. Legally, that is still the case.

Yet the government has insisted ever since that it must pursue Brexit because it is bound by the will of the people. Both the courts and the Electoral Commission, which has the final say on such matters in the UK, have found that Vote Leave broke electoral law. If the result of the referendum HAD been binding, it would have been declared null and void for this reason. It is only because it wasn’t that the result has been allowed to stand."

Assuming this is correct, it’s almost like they knew all about the dodgy money and planned accordingly.

When Brexit gets me down… I pour myself a decent aged malt and listen to some decent tunes…

or… get into a bit of John

Brexit is just part of a larger game. Fuck knows we’re it’ll take us, but more importantly, what’s the malt like?
Priorities and all that

Why is Brexit getting you down?

So, May’s deal is dead. Talks with Jezza are dead everyone is on holiday and even when they get back (assuming Emma Thompson isn’t blocking them), just what the hell do they do now?

Exit now that is what should happen

Alright. Here’s a cat to put amongst the pigeons. We’ve heard throughout from our stupider advocates of Remaining that a vote out of Europe is fuelling racism.

Have any of these folk considered how racist a vote to stay in is? Especially from the perspective of those that really believe in the project?

We had Guy Verhofstadt banging on about internal vs external borders this week, stating that he wants external borders re-inforced, internal borders relaxed.

Now we know from GV’s other statements that he doesn’t really believe in nation states. For him, the EU is just one big country and everybody else needs to get with the program. In that context, it’s as easy to move to Bavaria as it is to shift from Hampshire to Wiltshire.

Given all that, freedom of movement doesn’t look all that cosmopolitan. It looks a bit like the EU is a White Fortress.

Discuss.

It’s simple really, if Parliament can’t come to some consensus, that the EU agrees with, we leave with no deal.

A lot of people seem to forget that the EU also have a say in what our MPs concoct, and if they don’t like it then No Deal.

Yes but didn’t they make that illegal or something?

It was ruled out by MPs… but was not binding/legally enforceable… now where have I heard that before…
