:brexit: Brexit - Deal or no deal

Get your tits out, get your tits out, get your tits out for the Krauts.

Get your tits out for the Krauts

Boris to whip the man boobs out in defence of the glorious union?

Tough stuff this Brexit lark. Tears families apart

As the prospect of a no deal Brexit draws closer, so too does the concept of a hard border between the North and South of Ireland. I’ve been listening to some Irish talk shows. It seems that we Brits don’t want a hard border. The Irish are not going to build or police it.

Nevertheless, EU bigwigs have talked of a hard, physical border. First job for the EU Army? I’m sure that’ll go down well with the lads in South Armagh, a.k.a Bandit Country.

Another use of the word kraut. A derogatory word for Germans. Taking us back to 1918.
It doesn’t sit comfortably with me.

Please. It comes from sauerkraut, a food. And in 1918, the Germans were walking back over their lines, returning to a relatively intact Germany, having just smashed up half of Western Europe with the most destructive ordnance the world had ever seen.

Are we to stop calling French people “frogs” as well?

Well I guess it comes down to what you consider casual racism… whether you feel national stereotypes are fair game as opposed to outdated nonsense…

… what is even worse is this adoption of American crap … ‘Krauts’ being the American slur which was typically crass at best and ignores the fact that the dish of Sauerkraut is associated with a much broader region than just the Germans…

Thankfully we played it safe and called ‘em Gerries as there came from Germany—- much more civilised.

Frogs, Jocks, Paddies/Mick,… move on to Krauts, then why not spicks and Wogs? Where is the difference? If the only cut off to casual bigotry is we allow for national insults but not ‘race’ ones or what we insinuate by them, please explain why one is acceptable and the other not? If it’s all just ‘banter’ why should the darkies be worried about ‘love they neighbour’ repeats?

Sadly we still have this ridiculous notion to define human beings by ethnic, genetic or national differences… ridiculous… and the flame that allows us to keep doing so is fuelled by those that claim it’s PC gone mad when challenged on it… ‘PC gone mad’ the last battle cry of the Daily Mail reading bigot

There are plenty of people all over the world that call the English stuff, don’t you worry.

The difference is “spicks and wogs” (FFS mate, get a grip) are not in de facto control of the European Union. That’d be the Germans.

That’s who Rachel Johnson was getting her fake tits out for. That’s why the comment was made. That’s why I asked Boris to get the man boobs out.

Anyway, have a nice Sunday. I’m certainly not going to spend mine crying because a Frenchman might call me “roast beef” on account of what I eat today.

Shut up you bunch of whingeing Poms.
And yes, Pap is correct, Racism exists across the planet. The Indian Nation can be as ism ist as any EDL meeting, and one of the final straws for me to get out of the sandpit was a racist attack by a Lebanese BMW driver in a petrol station.

So actually even casual cartoon name calling/stereotyping is something that really annoys me now. No need for it Papster

I couldn’t give a shit what anyone called me on account of my Englishness. I don’t see the problem in calling people stuff on account of the food they still eat, especially as it’s a lot better than calling them stuff based on what their ancestors got up to in the preceding century.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.
These terms came from a place where they’re derogatory.
I suppose when people started using Gammon that it’s ok as the French called us roast beef. We are now just claiming it?
With my half Italian and half German cousins I’ve heard little derogatory remarks made in “jest”. These comments come from the 1930/40s. It’s 2019 and we’ve had very different relationships with these nations for a long time. So why do we keep making these comments?

Just because you are OK with being called a Rostbeef - makes it OK to call others what you wish? Really. That is the stuff of playground politics mate…

… to the gap between national and racial slurs, it’s a fine line and you know it… but question remains what is the difference between ‘nicknames’ associated with national stereotypes, racial ones or historical context?

The playground political wits back in my school days thought nothing of calling anyone who even lived in Germany a Nazi, without thinking of the history… many were also happy to joke about ‘c**ns’ in The same breath…

It’s very simple by continuing to claim it’s ok to make national jibes, keeps those making racial and homophobic ones believing it’s all just banter and acceptable…

… am beginning to suspect your rational about bexiy is less to do with socialist ideals and more to do with those ‘Krauts’ who bombed your chip shop having a big influence over it…

The most remarkable thing about the recent contributions is that no-one is really disputing my main claim, that the Germans are in de facto control of Europe.

Instead, everyone is offended about the use of the word “kraut” while @Map-Of-Tasmania is giving us a run through of all the racial slurs he knows.

Yeah thatsright pap… all about racial slurs…slight deflection there but a bit too obvious

… the fact is Germany and France are the largest economies so have the largest influence… UK could have had an equal influence had we ever really bothered being active participants instead of pissing in all the time, desperate for rebates and being more aligned to the US and stuck with Victorian ideals of ‘Great’ Britain and all its imperialistic bull that goes with it…

… would Pap be so worried about EU power bases if it was the Spanish or Italians?..

Yet you have not answered the question that you seem to think two wrongs etc…

Point of order, the French call English Roast Beef because that’s what we look like if we’ve been in the sun too long, i.e. nice and red

I’m still not offended!

Somewhat amused, if anything.

Yeah but then you are known as the Stan Boardman of the forum…

I very much doubt that. This is a football forum after all, so next time we have an international friendly against an old rival, I’ll expect you to police the thread in your social justice warrior uniform dealing with transgressions.

Can you please stop mentioning culinary delights from around Europe.
It’s making me hungry :meat_on_bone:

So you disagree with people who define themselves by their ethnicity? PC has gone fucking mad and I would never touch the Mail? Half the issues in this Country are caused by white liberals are their white guilt complex and total and utter white arrogance of how they can fix an issue.

@Barry-Sanchez Not sure what your assumption about folks who define themselves by their ethnicity has got to do with criticising the use derogatory national ‘Nick names’ … you do this a lot respond with unrelated questions or make up stuff and try a take the conversation elsewhere - determined to own the agenda… it’s why folks park your crap in the Whopper thread…

But as you asked so nicely… it’s not a question or agreeing or disagreeing with folks who define themselves by their ethnicity… BUT I would question why they feel they need to? It simply maintains unnecessary and irrational differentiation… people should IMHO define themselves by what they contribute to society, what they aspire to / achieve that is positive for their community… but you seem obsessed with labels… and then try and pretend it’s others obsession you are angry with… you are so transparent

It’s got fuck all to with ‘white liberals’ (more labels and assumptions) either not even sure what you are accusing these white liberals of as once again you make no sense

I am not entirely unsympathetic to these concerns.

i’m happy to be guided. which of these do you like?
