Or a sure sign of having a deal that enables them to fish for other varieties that sell well in Spain…
We ‘fished’ big whales all over the globe to near extinction not that long ago, And effectively whipped out Cod in our own waters … might be worth considering before more anti-EU mudslingling
Perhaps they had a negotiated deal with Canada because the fish they could catch there were fish they couldn’t catch at home and were popular there and in their other markets. You know, like a trade deal. Just a thought. But no, I’m sure you’re right, they had to go and catch fish in Canada because, being stupid Spanish they have used up all the fish at home. Stop embarrassing yourself.
Would you like the report from The Times on the same story? Or The Telegraph, BBC? They all reported his speech you know. Which highlighted his stated ignorance of the importance of Dover - Calais to trade. But hey - you win because the report happened to be in The Guardian.
I’m pointing out that the people howling about his comments were plainly highly partisan, and that the Guardian (which you chose to quote, I hadn’t seen this story before you quoted it,) was and is ferociously pro-remain. The same goes for the BBC, I couldn’t say either way about the Telegraph or Times.
But they were reporting his speech. He was condemned out of his own mouth. And not all of the people howling about his comments were partisan, many Tories were too. By the way The Telegraph is 'ferociously pro-Brexit, as is The Times, Not sure about the BBC, I think their role, certainly that of their political editor anyway, is to act as chief turd polisher for Johnson.
Given that most MPs in all parties including the tories are pro-remain, that’s hardly surprising. The only reason it’s taken so long to drag the nation out of the EU is that MPs relentlessly voted down every piece of legislation which would result in us leaving. That’s also why Johnson only had his pick of the second team imho, because May and her choice of team were voted down in everything they put before Parliament.
