A mirror should do the job
Tbh I’m not talking Brexit, I’m talking in general. World is a shit and fucked up place and will only get worse, and I just worry about it.
As Nigel said: “control the controllables” no point in sweating everything else, life’s too short.
Perhaps of producing a scarecrow like figure.
It doesn’t really address your “imported beef” tactics.
The world is always going to be fucked in one way of the other. I woud argue that there are plenty of worse times to have grown up, although that’ll mean little to people having a shit time now.
I will add that:-
- The way they’ve had the ladder pulled away from them is nothing short of tragic
- I’m constantly surprised they don’t murder us all in our sleep
More seriously, my generation grew up under the real and genuine threat of nuclear annihilation, government booklets distributed to every household in the UK explaining how to maximise our chances of surviving into the bleak post-nuclear landscape and more importantly, how we should dispose of our dead.
I’m still here.
IMHO the vast majority of both remain and leave voters did not carry the level of principle based decision making you like to suggest all brexit voters did… and when the ‘simple’ practicalities kick in such queues when heading abroad, more expensive goods from the EU, less choice etc, I think you will be surprised at how quickly many ‘turn’ and recognise that perhaps membership was not so bad after all. I think you underestimate the impact such simple things have on many folks lives.
I know the middle class are going to be devastated at the pain of an additional wait at the airport. They’ll really feel it by the third of fourth holiday of the year. I’m sure it’ll ruin them all.
There is a sizeable proportion of Britain that just won’t be arsed by this, for a few reasons
- Many people don’t do foreign travel at all
- Most working class people are cost prohibited, so they will be looking for somewhere cheap to go. They’ve been choosing Turkey in droves, outside the EU.
- Any Brit that has been to the US and stood in the snaking two hour queue before being probed by the cold, dark and indifferent eyes of a US Immigration official, will know that the EU don’t have shit compared to them. And yet people return to the US.
Unfortunately there are more than plenty who don’t follow the Brexit process, admittedly they know all of the slogans, but very few of the facts. They really aren’t interested in the minutia of it, the nuts and bolts, to them it’s all about ‘freedom’ and ‘sovereignty’ and ‘taking back control’. Johnson and co know this, they knew exactly what they were doing. Likewise the ‘Australian Deal’, which is the latest version of the same thing, in every statement they have made for the past few weeks they mention it over and over again, pushing it down our throats. It’s bullshit, why not call it the Afghanistan Deal, or The Yemeni Deal, it’s the same thing, ie, no deal. Like us, if and when they decide to negotiate a trade deal with the EU it will be on WTO terms. Why not just say so and stop with all the dishonest obfuscation? Surely, at a time like this it’s not too much to ask that the Prime Minister stops his silly mind games and starts to be straight with people instead of treating us like children, just pawns in his and his backer’s Brexit project. Johnson knows that 75% of The UK have no idea what Australia Deal means, so he can pretend it’s a good thing. Likewise Oven Ready Deal.
Incidentally, does anyone know when the next elections are due to elect the WTO officials? Or are they just faceless unelected bureaucrats.
Haha, I should shout ‘HOUSE’ as I was waiting for you to mention the ‘pain the the middle classes’… you forget that the middle classes have more cash and will be able to spend more to ensure their choice and quality is not too badly effected… it is The less well off who will be pissed off at airports in Spain, canneries and Majorca etc, and you underestimate the numbers that seek out EU destinations - the fact that you think they will all travel to Turkey is based on what exactly? Your advice? Might want to mention the metal detectors at Istanbul hotels…
You are clutching at straws in your continued efforts to defend Brexit from any critique, without really acknowledging what Really does matter to the average person in the street when not hoodwinked by the selfish cunts advocating Brexit, and making a killing from it by preying on their fears and insecurities and false patriotism.
Go to France instead, init. The weekends were GREAT before the lockdown.
(for being maimed, blinded or killed by Macron’s stormtroopers)
Did you head to London at all during the poll tax protests? Or up North during the Minors strike?
‘British ‘stormtroopers’’ - but I am sure ours are much better than the EU stormtroopers…
Your continued ‘bating’ with your war shite is exactly that, a wank of an argument.
No. I was fifteen around the time of the first and about eight at the time of the second. I had school.
Well maybe expand your education a bit and look it up on Youtube instead of just getting jiggy with Tony Benn vids… might give you a bit of perspective. Glass houses and all that.
Police brutality is nothing new, buts sadly its not unique to the French.
My kids are 24,23 and 21.
You come across as a very angry man sometimes, Map.
Is it doing you any good?
No deal really does mean this
I’m sure this position would have focused Macron in a compromise
Haha, nice trolling/deflection. But off the pace. And how you saw ‘anger’ in that post seems to be your usual attempt to ignore the point made and try and escalate the heat… Merely calling you up on the inconsistency of your argumentation… The rather choice selectivity and thus the ridiculous nature of it.
And the ridiculous nature of it… having the fleet patrol our fishing waters will cost more to the tax payer than the value of the fish taken… yet I suspect there will be many chest thumping little Englanders ‘proud’ of defending our waters whilst to many kids remain below the official poverty level… But hey we got out country back so this is good right?
How long before Gove or some other cunt in the Cabinet proclaims ‘let them eat fish!’ Or Boris turns up at every food bank with two loaves and five fish?
Our failed test and trace system (£22bn) would pay for 49 years worth of fishing contributions to our economy (£446m per year).
