:brexit: Brexit - Deal or no deal

There are all sorts of reason for Nissan not to import, not least the fact that it’s halfway around the world.

This is an interesting graph. It tracks the average wage of UK and Japanese workers. They’re not that far apart. They overlap.

Cheap Japanese labour doesn’t exist. Add that to shipping costs, and what’s the advantage?

Aye, with Ford being given an 80m loan from the EU at the exact same time it was shipping Transits out of Swaythling to non-EU Turkey.

Like I said, literally the worst place they could have spouted their baseless spiel.

And this is going to help matters?

US doesn’t want what the UN wants?

Tale as old as the UN.

:exclamation: It’s usually because the UN wants nicer things for the world than US foreign policy can deal with

Had to read that twice.

WTAF???

From the first tweet:

FACT: We have repeatedly affirmed we will not compromise our high standards in any trade deals.

From the second tweet:

If we refuse to trade with anyone unable to match our high productions standards it’s bad for UK consumers.

Conclusion: Sounds a bit like compromising to me :man_shrugging:

In simple terms it’s saying, “We’re desperate, we’ll take any shit”

I like that he’s mixing a bit of the literal with his fantasy, and I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but fair play to the Tory-instructed negotiators for keeping it in.

The removal of the “level playing field” would defeat one of the major points of Brexit; to be able to dole out state aid for important industries and services.

It is one of the biggest left wing reasons for leaving. The state aid rules are one of the reasons that so many British firms are getting snaffled up by foreign competitors. They’re the reason we can’t save steel without some foreign magnate.

Steel, FFS. If the shit ever hits the fan with China, the world’s major supplier, can you imagine the telephone call?

:uk: “Hey China, I know we’re at war and that, but could we buy some steel?”

“What do you want it for?”

:uk: Er (long silence) Spoons!

With Failing Grayling being paid £100k as an “advisor” to the port’s parent company what could possibly go even more wrong ?

Completely agree. It is such a shame that these hopeless cunts are in charge of anything. It’s not party political either. The other side are cunts too and I can’t imagine them being any better.

I’m pretty sure I am not alone in feeling this way. I actually think that there is a growing and dangerous sense of public dissatisfaction with the political process in general.

Returning briefly to the topic, the Remainer Parliament almost destroyed Parliament and the public’s faith in it. I honestly don’t know what they thought they would achieve, but what they actually achieved was enabling this lot and this majority.

The next election is going to be interesting.

It will only be interesting if the opposition party can put up some credible candidates with a manifesto that the majority of the country can get behind and vote for.

Labour have got serious problems. No Roman Army ever marched on Rome until Sulla did. Then loads did.

Similarly, Scotland always voted Labour, until it didn’t. The Red Wall would never vote Tory, until it did. People have already done the unthinkable and precedent is a bitch.

How does Keir Starmer, of all people, convince those constituencies to vote for him? I’d argue he doesn’t, and that the only way he wins there is if Brexit is done and the Tories are fucking hopeless.

I know that you are a passionate Brexiteer Pap and admire your constant support of it, but I am sure you will understand that many people are passionate about remaining. There is no right or wrong in leaving or staying, just a belief in one or the other. I respect the position who believe that we are better off out of it, but the people who believe that we are better off in it need to respected too. If the vote had gone the other way, Leavers would still be arguing and fighting to leave. Surely you can understand why?
As for blaming Remainers for the mess we are currently in, the only people to blame are those who thought it was a good idea to vote for Johnson.
I don’t usually vote for Labour but did twice in the last two elections because I want the Tories out. I find it hard to understand why long standing Labour supporters betrayed their principles and allowed this clown in.
