:gov: Boris Johnson is Still the Prime Minister

I think if you look you’ll see we’re well on the way

I can actually agree that Jo Swinson’s actions both in facilitating a GE and then proposing cancelling Brexit without a second referendum were disasters.

Even though the referendum was advisory cancelling the decision to go ahead would have been wrong. But I don’t accept a second referendum on the actual deal would have been wrong.

Oddly enough, we’ve only ever had one referendum which wasn’t advisory, and that was the AV reform vote. That one was the only one that was legally binding, basically because Lib Dems demanded it.

You can but hope.

Where does it end though - let’s assume that there was a second referendum.

If leave won again, the same commentators would be out saying the leave campaign lied / the voters were thick /old /racist and therefore shouldnt be trusted to make a decision on something that is clearly beyond their understanding

Worse still would have been remain winning - one all - what a mess that would be

Do we have a replay? Seems fair

Or is the result the right result in the minds of the remain and therefore must remain inviolate

A pal of mine sent me this the other day.

I used to play the original extremely loud in my mum’s gaff as a teenager. Teenage rebellion ended when she started singling along.

“I’ve got a brilliant new strategy, which is to make so many gaffes that nobody knows which one to concentrate on,” he told the BBC’s Booktalk in 2006.

Met has asked for all element of the Su Gray report that related to any of the events they are investigating to be withheld (ie the stuff that’s likely to take out the PM)

This will be kicked down the garden path for the rest of time
