And what sort of deal will they get when they don’t really want one?
How hard will they negotiate for good terms?
It’ll end up being a contest between Remain and some form of Remain.

And there is an election on.
I don’t agree, but hey, if they negotiate a shit deal the people will vote against it won’t they. That’s the true test. What you may consider ‘some sort of remain’, others may well think is a sensible compromise. But the point is, people should have an informed choice before voting on a momentous, life changing decision like this, not, as in the referendum 3 years ago, a choice based on a farrago of lies, fantasies, misinformation, which inevitably results in people casting their vote from a position of ignorance of the implications of that choice, that is undeniable. Surely it can only be a good thing, democratic, if people are informed before voting. Can’t it?
You’re missing the point, I think.
The option to Leave is entirely gone, which would make it entirely undemocratic.
Put a few options on a confirmatory ballot and make it AV, and I’m on board, but one of those positions has to be no deal, 36% of the electorate at last count - and completely disenfranchised by Labour’s half-arsed plan.
The leave option at the referendum was leave with the easiest deal ever. Go back and check.
Your trying to rewrite history if you believe crash out was the option offered.
No it wasn’t. It was simply about whether we wanted to Leave or Remain in the European Union.
Once again, you’re taking comments from individuals, in this case Liam Fox, and pretending they were on the ballot paper. They were not. Cut it out.
Not individuals, all of them.
Find one campaigning for crash out.
I don’t think that’s true, and in the highly unlikely event that it was, is immaterial.
It wasn’t on the ballot paper.
You are absolutely right of course. No doubt some people, the ‘Brexit is a religion’ ones, voted to crash out, weren’t interested in the pros and cons, the implications of that position, but many many more would have voted because they believed the lies, the false promises, easiest deal ever, taking back control, countries around the world lining up to do trade deals with us, the list of falsehoods go on and on. The idea that all 36% of the electorate voted for no deal is ridiculous, pure wishful thinking by the tunnel visioned Brexit is a religion brigade.
This seems eerily familiar. A bit like Corbyn’s cultists.
As I keep saying, look.
The whole leave argument was based on the lie of “the easiest deal ever”.
That’s how it was sold, whether you agree or not, the historical evidence shows it.
You lot know we just done a goal right?
Seen it
Going back now.
Bye😘
I’m a bit long in the tooth to be a cultist, but nice try.
So what you are saying is that there shouldn’t have been a referendum campaign, no need for one, just hold a vote, leave or remain. Likewise, why have a general election campaign, people shouldn’t be troubled with nonsense like political parties having a manifesto, campaigning on their policies and people voting on them. Just name an election date, go into the polling booth, a list of party names and vote blind, give them carte Blanche to do whatever they like. There was a referendum campaign, false promises were made, lies were told. many many people would have voted on the strength of the promise of the easiest deal ever. It was clearly a lie. Your idea seems to suggest politicians shouldn’t have to be accountable at all for promises and lies. Ban election campaigning, just vote for them on trust.
seems to have gone a bit off topic. Off to the Brexit thread?
Why are leavers cultists and arch remainders not?
Is this the same as I’m thick and you’re not?
Or I’m racist and you’re not?
Etc etc
It’s all part of the game people were deliberately lead into.
Why not leave and stay?
Certain terms were and always are deliberately picked. It generally helps a lot in guessing who’s paying for it.
To be honest @Nottarf-Krap your assertion that all Brexiters are idiots has been done to death on previous Brexit threads and is pretty tiresome.
Anyway, as @Intiniki has pointed out, this is the BJ is blowing the country thread maybe we should move Brexit discussions to the current Brexit thread…
Where? Missed that.
I think you have confused me with someone else
