RIP Jerry Lewis/Buddy Love

He was a bit of a jerk to work with, very talented dude.

You worked with him? How old are you?

Hey  Just a movie fan, he was a big deal in the US, with Dean Martin. I’m only 72 for the record,

Tbf I remember him from seeing reruns of his films as a nipper. Hadn’t thought of him in years - he did make me chuckle as I recall though.

Liz MacKean - campaigning journalist.

She was born in Romsey and started her career at Radio Solent, went on to Newsnight - she came to prominence when she bravely exposed Savile’s activities, but her report was binned by the BBC and it led to her taking voluntary redundancy.

With the state of the world in 2017, we need more journalists like her - not afraid to expose wrongdoing by corporations and powerful individuals.

Didn’t know she was from Romsey, my old stomping ground. I doubt she was a Woodley Warrior though!

Now you have mentioned it i recall her expose of Savile and co, and the cowardly way her report was buried by the powers that be at the Beeb. As you say, a proper investigative journalist, not scared to go up against the powerful, sadly a dying breed. She will be missed.

He paved the way for Jim Carey :lou_sad: Not heard anything about him for years and thought he was already dead. RIP

Brian Aldiss - 92 - sci-fi author

Just been reading the Helliconia trilogy. Shame.

Good innings though.

Thing is - I know the name but don’t recall reading any of his work - or even the title of any of his books.

What’s the trilogy like that you read Goat? Any good? Recommend any others?

RIP Viserion. Sad to see you on the other side.

Tobe Hooper, film director, has died aged 74. Who will ever forget Leatherface? RIP

Farewell Walter Becker. 50% of one of the greatest songwriting duos.

Gutted I never saw Steely Dan live.

Not many bands named after a dildo! Only 67. RIP Walter.
