Yeah maybe. I do think it’s a problem tho. I know ur not sposed to moan about the standard of play, but it’s v.important. I.e. in any field, do I get much pleasure from watching ppl do things worse than I could do it myself? Would I go watch a bro play guitar, if he plays it worse than I do? Do I like listening to people sing, if they’re worse singer than me? That’s why I like women tennis, it’s v.good standard. I dunno that I would get a single game off i.e. any of the Wimbledon birds.
The bits I’ve seen tho of the Women World Cup has been mostly good tho I think, deffo much better than last time I watched some. It’s only really the shooting + the GKers that seem a bit weak, but then I spose if ur shooting is bit weak, you prob need dodgy GKers.
Well, to be honest I don’t know about the whole team, I just happened to follow one of the England players - Claire Rafferty - via Jackie Oatley, and she works in a bank. @clrafferty1 if you’re interested.
Perhaps, we should just agree, that the standards are improving and the game is getting better. Also we are in a World Cup semi. No matter what the standard of all the teams, we are in a semi final of a World Cup. Great achievement. We are beating the other ladies teams from the worlds best!

I made some investigations + the England Women Players get £20K from The FA (per year!) for being England players, plus I spose whatever they get from their clubs, but if they still want day job, they’re only allowed to work max 24 hours per week.

Missed the match last night as it was way past my bedtime and Kanye West had sent me to sleep…just want to say a huge well done to the girls. Great result. Good to see an England football team progress in the knock out stages!!!

I reckon that the apparent lack of standards with regards to women goalies could be down to a variety of things, including the following:

To be a good goalie it helps to have a commanding physical presence and to be tall (usually over 6ft in the men’s game). Because girls tend to have a smaller stature it is much more difficult for them to be good goalies. They should make the goals much smaller.

Modern girls like to kick balls. Old-fashioned types that still prefer handling balls tend to stick with netball. In order to encourage more old-fashioned girls to become goalies, all payments to netballers should be stopped with immediate effect.
Wow, I went to the “Other Place” first and all they have about the World Cup is about 20 posts. Obviously, this is the more enlightened place.
USA are in their fourth final - deserved their win last night. It was an excellent game and the pub I was in was full with everyone watching the game. Only negative about USA team - have you seen where their coach was born? Good luck to England tonight. Would be great to have a USA v England final.
And someone mentioned the women would be as bad as the men when they start making fortunes out of the game. My daughter spent an hour or so with Abby Wambach recently. One of the stars of the game and she has made a few million from the game. Couldn’t have been nicer. Real, down to earth person. Showed more interest in my daughter’s footballl career than talking about her own.

So if England can beat Japan, they will play USA in the final, after they beat Germany 2-0 in the early hours of this morning.
This is is a massive day for England… Come on!
It would be good to see the manager and coaching staff being female too. There must be plenty out there that could do the jobs.
Interesting to learn that Wayne Rooney earns more in a week than the whole of the England female team earns collectively in a year!
I’m sure the balance will start to redress soon though after this stellar performance by the women.

Everyone seems to be predicting 00:00 for this game, so i prob won’t bother watching. Hope they get through on i.e. pens tho!
I’m not so fussed about this. Same as I think a female manager could work in men’s football, fine to have men working in the women’s game. But it would be good to see more opportunities for women across the board.
Disagree cos they are the Lionesses, and it is normal in any pride where there is a large group of Lionesses, to have a smaller number of bro lions to be in charge + organise things. This is a system that has been developed in the natural world over many thousands of years, and they would be v.unwise to tamper with it. A pride of Lionesses without a bro lion in charge, would be unlikely to survive in the wild, i.e. when they had Hope Powell + got sent home early.
I have to say, I really hate how they’re using the word Lionesses. It does exactly as you’re describing it.

Lol yeah on the radio when i was drive home last night they was talking bout if England win the World Cup, that the manager bro will prob get a Knighthood. I thought about that for a bit, and how funny it will be if the Bro gets all the credit for the World Cup win, and how angar it will make Lou, and b4 long I was lolling away like a good un.
