Have to admit, i get the hump on Brexit thread when told to shut up because ‘its been done to death’ - which kind of misses the point that if one has strong opinions that something is wrong, you keep hammering away to try and slowly get folks to think differently… often using new examples, analogies etc… being pissed off with the result is not something that is just going to go away because someone tells me to get over it. … folks seem to forget there is a big difference between being disappointed in the the result of a vote and being seiously concerned with what the result means going forward… that it was wrong.
The simple analogy is if there was a referendum on sending all migrants ho came here in the 50s and 60s home. even if the viote was in favour, it would still be wrong in my opinion and I would feel obliged to continuely tell people they were wrong. The moral/rational might be a lot clearer, but from my perspective the principle is the same. Democracy say the result stands, but i DONT have to accept it just shut up just because a few folk are bored with the debate…

ok I’m gonna close the dossier on rallyboy’s flounce. I don’t think we’re gonna get much more out of that. I’m gonna record that Rallyboy flounced off the frm cos he didn’t want people seeing he gave fewer upvotes than he received. He was HUMILIATION cos he was proven upvote MISER, and everyone knew it! It’s the explanation I like best. And when the case files are unsealed in 50 yrs time, no-one will remember the actual circumstances, and he will look like a DICK.

Jeez, people take things a little to seriously. @pap just keep on going, don’t let a few ruin it for everyone! The Same thing happened at Saints Forever. I loved that forum and the person that ran it, closed it down. Was a sad time.
The thing is, people will join another forum and move on, or back to the dark side. No matter what, people will get their forum fix.
Chill everyone, just chill, this is supposed to be a bit of fun!
I think @pap has done a great job on here. I have loved the feel of this forum, up until a few months ago, when it started to take a bit of a dark side turn for me!

Right. With a bit more time to hand, I want to get a few words off my chest. bletch has suggested that when I speak on this forum, I speak with the authoritative voice of this forum, on account of me setting it up and all that. I can certainly understand how some might perceive things that way, but it’s not the way I see it, nor is it the way I feel.
I already self-moderate to a huge extent on Sotonians. I am aware of how much of an arsehole I am capable of being, and attempt not to be. At the same time, if I wasn’t going to be some lite version of myself scuttling back onto Steveweb, I’m not going to do that here.
I want to make one thing clear. If you get into a disagreement with me, you disagree with me, not Sotonians.com. I feel I have to point that out because I don’t want people swerving Sotonians because of a disagreement with one poster. I am directing the technical future of the site, sure - but I’m just another poster.
Two people got guested, temporarily. One because she was taking the piss and said she wasn’t coming back. I can take the piss too. The other was guested because of a disagreement with someone else that I just didn’t have the bandwidth to handle. We tried to get him back the next day.
People have vehemently and quite rudely disagreed with me, from SWDP’s semi-doxxing, the Tokes-was-really-a-cunt phase and Cherts constant ad hominems. It’s all still there, because I believe in the principle of freedom of speech. I don’t think we’ve ever censored you, especially if it makes me look shit.
All I ask is that you allow me to do the same, not as the person that runs the place, but as the internet forum poster that has always liked a throaty debate, and not to punish Sotonians when you disagree with me. I’m really not worth it.

We constantly debate the performance of the duly elected Parties. Right now the Tories are getting a kicking yet they are the democratically elected Government. I dont see any reason why we cant continue to talk about the issues that Brexit is causing. I read today that one in three manufacturing businesses are looking to move some operations abroad since the vote. There are many major concerns about what is going to happen once we actually leave. We cannot ignore the consequences. Even the Brexiters need to understand what they have voted for.

I dunno. Someone has got to be The Man. It’s an important role! The Man has got to Eat Shit from ill-informed Dumbasses. That is his main job! Pap should know about all this, albeit he is usually boot on other foot, cos he has made a whole career of talking ill-informed shit about The Man. Look at all the stuff he says bout Dave Cameron + Theresa May + Lionel Blair or whoever! They was The Man. And the thing they knew was, when dumbasses is talk shit about you, you just have to Take It. No-one wants to hear The Man trying to explain himself! We are deaf to The Man in that regard. We only heed him at all, when we’re trying to pick fault.
The problem with pap being The Man, is he’ll only eat so much shit, before he decides it’s someone elses turn. What we need, is someone who will quite happilly eat shit all day long, and understand it is always his turn. I suggest @spudders

@rallyboy 's 2016 performance should be proof of that, and this site is better than most at allowing people to express approbation, and recognising it at the end of every year.

Understand and agree with a lot of what Pap has said. From my and by the looks of this other’s perspective, Pap has a strong opinion, then if he disagrees is very quick to play the man and not the subject. Do that to angry bastards like me and they really will be a cunt to you but its better than throwing you out of the pub window Pap then gets flouncy and offended when others bite back. With this in mind, stick to the forum Pap and post with whatever persona suits you best. At least it is not out there on the streets mugging old ladies. Plus it saves on pub windows.
