Agree @fatso , it would be a shame if @saintbletch has bitten the dust: he was one of the reasons I signed up to this place, and he was one of the reasons I had such high hopes for it at the beginning.
Of course, when I say ‘high hopes’ I’m not sure what those high hopes actually were, or, indeed, ever could have been! This place is, after all, ‘only’ a bloody football forum; it was never likely to bring about world peace or find a cure for cancer, let alone reach a consensus on the merits of JWP.
BUT, in those heady days, just after its creation, amazing things did in fact happen. For instance, who would ever have imagined that SWF arch-antagonists such as @pap and @furball would actually spend time on here being all matey together?!
Naturally, it didn’t last. I suppose it was unrealistic – not to mention boring – for a state of papsweb peace and harmony to last for eternity; however, I never expected to see a state of hostility quite as ugly as that that appears to exist between @pap and @tokyo-saint ; assuming, of course, they’re not on some sort of wind-up in order to generate forum traffic

Hey Papster, thanks for taking the time to respond. And without wanting to risk upsetting you or annoying you further, I just wanted to clarify - it’s not that I don’t think you have the best intentions for the site, or that you don’t mean it about the sense of democracy. I know these are things that are really important to you, you’ve said them right from the start.
It’s just that, even though you say this, and clarified it further here, nonetheless, I personally can’t help but have a different relationship with you on this site than I do the others - because the fact is, you’re still the boss. Doesn’t matter how much you say you’re not - you are! When I get pissed off with you, it’s different to when I get pissed off with Chertsey. Chertsey is just a meaningless fly (just an example, Cherts!) whereas you can make decisions that might impact me. I don’t what that might be - it’s just a perception thing - but to deny that exists, is missing out on what your users experience.
I don’t want to unecessarily hammer the point home, but I feel it’s also quite a fundamental issue of understanding. I know this site is important to you - you’ve put a lot of love and devotion into it, therefore I feel I should respect you enough to say it.

Maybe I’m missing something but I don’t regard pap’s posts to be any different than anyone else’s. In fact I enjoy reading what he has to say though I often disagree with it. I think it is easy to distinguish between “the boss” and “the poster” as long as you believe “the boss” has integrity, which in my opinion pap has shown quite clearly.
