Change Labour for Tory and Tories for Liberals and you have the other side of the equation
Those would be the liberals who voted for Liz Truss to be PM, and would vote for Braverman or Johnson if given a chance, I take it.
I talking about the Soubry’s and Greives of this world - I appreciate these ones have been purged but there will be other in there
Part of the problem about making a party appealing to a majority is that you have to head to the centre ground and you end up with MPs of a slightly different hue - purple works for both sides
You lot are just totally screwed Labour’s only looking at improving their funding sources.
All pigs in the same trough.
The only person who can save the UK is Clarkson, once he defeats the evil West Oxford District Council.
And if he can’t you are fvcked.
(As in Labour are going after the nimbly vote)
My God, he really does come across as very shifty doesn’t he. I really fail to see his problem here, what on earth is wrong with saying when he first approached Sue Gray with the job offer? Unless there is something improper going on!
he has fucked up and he knows it
Worse still is that his actions gives Boris an argument that the party gate inquiry is a political stitch up
Keir has got himself in a pickle over the pensions reforms
Went piling in about reversing the changes if he got in, forgetting that he had his very own special personal tax exemption on his pension pot from his DPP days - whoopsie
Now he has said that he would reverse this tax break alongside reversing the reforms (but only if he gets in)
Which made me think, who else has “special” tax free pension arrangements in the public sector
…as if I didn’t loathe Starmer quite enough already, he comes up with this.
Starmer doing his best to piss away massive lead in the polls.
So it’s official, the NEC have voted to ban Jeremy Corbyn from standing as a Labour candidate. It’s a dark day for democracy and democratic socialism. Starmer is nothing if not an authoritarian without an original thought in his head, who has shown himself to be an untrustworthy liar from the day he conned his way into being elected leader of the Party. He and his puppet master Peter Mandelson,(because he is the de facto leader of the party) have obviously convinced themselves that left wing socialists will still vote for Starmer come the election because they have nowhere else to go. It’s a very risky strategy IMO, surely anybody with an ounce of self respect will not allow themselves to be taken for granted and treated with contempt like this. I know I won’t.
I have supported, knocked on doors, distributed leaflets for the Party for over 50 years. Served on the committee of Romsey and Eastleigh constituency for a while, which given the demographic of the constituency was not unlike pissing against the wind. I was a delegate to the Party conference in Brighton when Tony Benn was stitched up by Neil Kinnock in his attempt to become deputy leader, (Kinnock was overwhelmingly mandated by his constituency to vote for Benn but abstained at the last minute which was the difference between Benn winning and losing). Kinnock was actually cornered in the toilets afterwards by some angry constituents and roughed up.
Well now as far as I’m concerned, Starmer, Mandelson et al can go fuck themselves. And then fuck themselves some more. If it talks like a Tory, praises Margaret Thatcher, writes for The Sun, welcomes back treacherous defectors with open arms, it’s a fucking Tory.
Well, Labour had the next election in the palm of their hand and I sit this could be the start of them losing it.
Maybe time for @Shroppie and his lot?
I’ll tell the troops to go away and prepare for government. And to watch out for the flock of pigs.
Seriously, Starmer is now utterly committed to Blairite New Labour (ie Tory Light) agenda. I think true socialists will find more in to approve in the LibDem manifesto than Labour.
How it will pan out, I’m far from sure. Sunak is managing to present an image of a stabilising, back to normal Tory, figure. Although I think that’s all a front, it’ll win back many non-thinking traditional Tories, especially in constituencies like N Shropshire where we’ll have a fight on our hands. In the red wall seats, Brexit was the big issue. All parties are too scared of upsetting Brexiteers to come out and say it’s failed and there will be a rump who still believe. I think Starmer will win back many red wall seats but he can’t afford to alienate both socialists and the Brexit mob.
LibDems were getting confident of winning a lot of blue wall seats but the Tories are electioneering already and as each month goes by they can implement populist measures to reassure the faithful.
It’s still a way off but I predict the Tories losing seats, but not as many as expected, Labour winning particularly in the North but not well enough for a majority and LibDems being very patchy and I doubt they’ll end up with more than 15-20 seats. Scotland is now a joker in the pack with Sturgeon gone. If Labour pick up there it may save them, but LibDems may recover seats. I doubt there will be any Tory joy there.
So. a hung parliament with Labour the biggest party. I’ll guess LibDems will give supply and confidence support but will never again fall for the coalition trap.
I’m sure you’ll have fun digging this up after the election.
You know that song that fans sing ironically when they are 3-0 down?
“How shit must you be, it’s only 3-0”
Reckon there must be a Tory version of this
“how shit must you be we’re only 15 pt down”
Fuck me - if Labour don’t win this it will be the worst political performance of all time
,Have to agree with that. Starmer simply doesn’t know what identity he wants for the party. He’s just trying to attract votes from anywhere but that’s resulting in conflicting or ambiguous positions. The Tories will destroy that as they are very good at projecting simple but consistent lies.
At least the LibDems have a consistent message.
I disagree, he knows exactly what identity he wants, “New” Labour MK2, to be specific. That’s why Corbyn had to go (twice), both times shoved under a bus by Starmer himself. Can’t have a socialist in Starmer’s brave new tory-lite world.
