:labour: Where now for Labour?

We’ve been waiting to hear Corbyn say this for nearly three years. ‘Jeremy Corbyn destroys the establishment’ on Double Down News! | By The Daily Politik | Facebook

This is interesting, good to hear it from the horse’s mouth. Without doubt the most shameful period in our so called democracy.

I do note that Starmer went down at the CBI conference much better than Sunak. Even got some jokes in.

“The country is Sunakered”. How true.

He’s got some cheek. He’s the main reason the Tories are in power. He knew the 2nd ref policy was toxic at the time.

Agree, but what i would say is that we want to get away from terms such as ‘ordinary working people’ as its become synonymous with ‘blue collar’ grafters, when the vast majority of us whether working with hands or pens are ‘ordinary working people’. Some earn more but are happy to pay higher tax to provide quality of services and social support, but have no access to unions, yet feel solidarity towards ALL working people.

I just heard that on the news. It’s priceless, the Starmer who stabbed Corbyn for wanting to get on without a second vote now saying he understands why people wanted to leave. The man who wanted to “take back control” by forfeiting national control of our currency, interest rates, borrowing policy and probably taxation. You really couldn’t make it up, and he can fuck right off.

I’m as keen as anyone to see the present lot of tory chancers kicked out on their ear, and I’d pretty much decided to hold my nose and vote for Starmer’s mob come election time.

But after this, I really can’t. For the first time in my adult life, I’m now disenfranchised to the point where I genuinely won’t feel able to vote for any of the mainstream parties. What an absolute fucking cunt Starmer is, he’s making Mandelson look quite a decent bloke.

If he hasn’t got the labour whip and is unlikely to get it back (for whatever reason) then surely he cannot stand as a Labour candidate

He can always stand as an independent Labour candidate

there is form for it in his constituency - his predecessor did the same

This may be nitpicking, but you’re not disenfranchised. You have a vote; you simply don’t wish to cast it for any of the main parties. Being disenfranchised means not being permitted to vote, with is a very different thing.

I am disenfranchised as they will not allow me to vote for your leaders.

I wouldn’t mind being disenfranchised if it meant I never had to pay any tax.:smile:

Stow away on one of the cruise ships when you do a piano and disembark in some far away foreign port.
It should be easy enough to do

I identify as disenfranchised, and who are you to question my disenfranchised identity? :rage::rage::smile:

Don’t think I haven’t considered that.

“The selections for Labour candidates needs to be more democratic and we should end NEC imposition of candidates. Local Party members should select their candidates for every election”
Keir Starmer 2020.
An untrustworthy liar, as bad as anyone in politics and that includes Johnson. Corbyn’s real crime, in Starmer’s eyes, is that he is a consistent critic of Israeli crimes against Palestinians. Starmer is a self confessed Zionist to the last bone in his body. As is Rachel Reeves. There is no war crime the Israelis could commit that would cause these two to criticize them. Never forget who bank rolled Starmer’s Labour leadership campaign to the tune of tens of thousands of pounds. When all the other candidates openly disclosed their financial backers Starmer refused repeatedly, and no wonder. He received large donations from a mixture of extreme right wing figures, all of whom had one thing in common, they were all prominent supporters and apologists for Israel. Once elected Starmer showed that he had simply cynically lied, pretending to care about social justice. He has forced the Labour Party to abandon it’s radical and liberal traditions as well as the absolute value of freedom of speech. These traditions have now been turned into a thought police, expelling members for incorrect thoughts and trawling the web for any evidence of a thought that might be politically unacceptable to the new regime.
Now we have a Labour Party wrapped in the Union Jack, pandering to anti-immigrant racism, has become an unequivocal cheerleader for Israel, even though they have just gone full on Fascist, and declared itself primarily concerned with the interests of businessmen having returned to the right wing neo-liberal economic policies of the New Labour Blairite years. This week Starmer is openly telling any socialists left in the Party who refuse to compromise their beliefs and back his apartheid supporting, neo-liberal Stalinist type leadership, there’s the door, don’t let it hit your arse on the way out. He’s a fucking disgrace.
